If he did, he wouldn't have taken that job.

I don't understand why those two clowns would be lauded as heroes. Unless I'm missing something (I haven't been watching, and only saw the clip that batmagadanleadoff posted in this thread) they didn't affect the outcome of the game at all. Betts caught the ball in his glove and the batter was ruled out on a fan interference call. All they really accomplished was that they outed themselves as a couple of louts.

Yes. I think Stearns did a great job of managing the roster throughout the season.

While some of the spokesmodels may have been provided in a sponsorship deal with Microsoft Copilot, the covers will all be authentic.

Who has appeared on the most covers in this year's Tabloid Cover Derby? I know you've been wondering! Due to ties, our Top Ten actually includes twelve people. Here are the leaders, through October 24, 2024. Lindor, photogenic and prominent, is our unsurprising leader. 1. Francisco Lindor 45 2. Pete Alonso 35 3. Luis Severino 17 4T. Edwin Diaz 14 4T. Francisco Alvarez 14 6T. Brandon Nimmo 13 6T. J.D Martinez 13 8T. Mark Vientos 11 8T. Kodai Senga 11 10T. Jeff McNeil 9 10T. Harrison Bader 9 10T. Jesse Winker 9 Lindor appeared on 2022's winning cover, MISERY, from Newsday.

This year we do, and Candelita is running away with it.

Put a statue of Mookie jumping away from Bob Stanley's wild pitch right where the Shea batter's box used to be.

I don't expect they will either, but I suppose it depends on how the roster shapes up over the next five months.

If we're going to name this award after someone, I'd vote Terry Leach. Jacob deGrom is going to be remembered for his two Cy Youngs rather than his surprising debut. Leach was a pioneer among dark horses, and isn't really known for much else.

I think Wright has the best case, but it's not strong enough. Maybe Pete Alonso, if he comes back and gets to 400 homers as a Met. Maybe Francisco Lindor, if he can lead the team to two or three championships this decade. But for now, I'd stop at Seaver.
