  1. That's a reasonable measure. Do we know who that was? My guess would be Lindor.
  2. "Face of the franchise" is a subjective title, to be sure. I would say, though, that in 2024, the three most prominent "faces" were Alonso and Lindor and Nimmo, not necessarily in that order.
  3. I suspect he likes Pete for two or three years but not for six or seven.
  4. Odd. So much for having Senga help recruit him.
  5. Rumors are that the Giants have entered the picture for Alonso.
  6. Nolan's rocketing up the prospect charts, making some Mets top 25 lists. Who needs Ohtani? We'll soon have McLean. Later https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mash/images/4/42/Henry210402.jpg>
  7. I'm not seeing any news reports of his death yet. Meanwhile, there's this: https://leaptoad.com/mets/clippings/00232.jpg>
  8. I think it's a sure thing.
  9. Those two words caught my eye too!

  11. I'm curious to know if they got the 4 in the proper font on the back of the jersey.
  12. Do you suppose Rod and Lynette "did it"? I wonder what the actual role of the "Dating Game chaperone" was.
  13. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Lynette is a total smokehouse. Yes, she's much prettier than the freeze-frame on the YouTube link would indicate. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Where is Lynnette today? I couldn't find anything. If she's still alive, she's 77 years old and could very well have a different last name now.
  14. Some takeaways: It's nice to know that Ken Boswell was a perfect baby That portable black-and-white TV looked sweet! I wonder if anyone was actually "literally" glued to their television set during the 1969 World Series Were all Dating Game first dates as extravagant as a ski-trip to Switzerland? I thought it would be more like dinner at Beefsteak Charlie's. I was curious to know how the date went. This is what I found: https://c7.alamy.com/comp/E0YEG8/jan-01-1970-a-dream-journey-to-switzerland-an-unusual-couple-is-traveling-E0YEG8.jpg> Jan. 01, 1970 - A Dream-Journey to Switzerland: An unusual couple is traveling around Switzerland these days. The 22 years old student from Los Angeles, Lynette Martin, winner of a TV-contest had the wonderful choice of a ''dream-partner''. For the journey she choosed Switzerland, as her ''dream-partner'' the famous baseball star from the ''New York Mets'', Rod Gasper. 15. Sullivan mentioned that Gilbert wasn't there, but I noticed that coaches Lawrence and Edward were also absent.
  16. Pete may have had a chance at $200 million two years ago, but I don't see it happening now.
  17. Ricky Nelson didn't have the E either. Strange that the yearbook gives everyone's Zodiac sign. And I wonder if Kenneth Humphrey still has the hairdo and the bowtie.
  18. Many of those "Earliest FA" years appear to be off, such as 2024 for McNeil and 2025 for Acuna.
  19. Will Sammon, The Athletic wrote: The deal contains deferrals, a league source told The Athletic. The deferred amount is $23.25 million, per another league source. It's a 10-year deferral (equal payments) starting in 2035 and ending in 2044.
  20. His name came up in a number of rumors about the Mets, but we now know it's not going to happen: https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/1871203145499689056
  21. This almost certainly means that Quintana won't be coming back. No real surprise there, but he was a real contributor. I wouldn't have been at all sorry to see him return. I also wouldn't be surprised if he, wherever he ends up, has a better year in 2025 than Frankie Montas.
  22. I hope not! Let's see... Senga, Manaea, Peterson, Holmes, Montas. Hmmm... I guess it would be a tight squeeze, but I think it could happen.
  23. http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2024/20241009_NSD_02.jpg> Very good news! Mr. Alonso? Mr. Stearns will see you now.
  24. I really hope the Mets lock down Pete before the New Year.
