Several reports (probably all stemming from the same source, naturally) say that the Mets have been in discussions with the Padres' free-agent reliever Tanner Scott. It's generally assumed that, in addition to adding another bat, who may or may not be Pete Alonso, the Mets are focused on bolstering their bullpen. And Scott is apparently one that they're interested in. Thirty years old, left-handed, formerly with the Orioles and Marlins. Last year, in Miami and San Diego, he had a 1.75 ERA and 22 saves over 72 innings. Buzz is that he wants four years, and there's some skepticism that Stearns will go for a contract of that length.
