  1. I'm confident that there will be at least one or two significant moves before (or during) spring training. What those moves will be, of course, remains to be seen. I expect at least one everyday position player and one or two pitchers.
  2. I agree. While I wouldn't mind getting Bregman, I'd rather keep Pete.
  3. I just looked it up; he'll turn 31 in March. So he's on the "wrong side of thirty" but just barely.

  5. I asked the question in the Luis Castillo thread, but I'll answer it here. I looked it up, and Nimmo does have a full no-trade clause in his contract. He'll get his Five-and-Ten rights sometime during the 2026 season anyway, so the no-trade will only have a practical effect for another year and a half or so.

  8. Rosenthal says the Mariners want players who will help them win in 2025. None of the Mets top prospects really fit that description. And I don't expect the Mets would be trading pitching. So who does that leave? Marte and McNeil, but both are questionable for one reason or another. Baty? Nimmo? (Does he have a no-trade?) Alvarez? Vientos??? I'm not sure what kind of a deal would make sense.

  11. He's wealthy enough for Manhattan hookers.
  12. No, but there won't be a decision on Sasaki until mid-January at the earliest. (I think his posting date is January 15.)
  13. I don't see why not. It is Mets related.
  14. I saw an article from the U.K. (the Daily Mail) pointing out concerns about Soto having developed a potbelly since the World Series ended. It may just be that he's wearing his street clothes under the uniform jersey. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/12/13/15/93122711-14190121-image-a-111_1734102805792.jpg>
  15. This is well-deserved. Worth mentioning (sort of), this will be the first single-digit number to be retired by the Mets.
  16. When I "agreed" above, I was assuming by the platoon suggestion that Siri batted left handed. My guess right now is that Taylor will get more playing time that Siri, but time will tell on that one.
  17. Today's poll, number 2.10, is the final poll of the second round. The seven polls that are still open will run their course over the next week, and then the Tabloid Cover Derby will take its holiday break. The sixteen surviving covers will compete in the third round beginning on January 6.

  20. Good! The hell with them! I haven't talked to any of the 2024 Yankees either. HAH!
  21. To phrase it another way, I'd be surprised if they were both still here next Opening Day, but I wouldn't be surprised if both of them were gone.
  22. I think there's a better than even chance that McNeil or Marte or both will be gone by Opening Day.
  23. =Gwreck post_id=180963 time=1734023602 user_id=56] Taylor if the opposing starter is a righty, Siri if he's a lefty.
  24. https://twitter.com/bmadden1954/status/1867213423156867577 And I wonder how much Steve Cohen cares about that.
  25. If the Mets weren't a finalist, it was probably because they didn't want to trade three or four top prospects for a two-year pitcher. I'm okay with that.
