    Apparently Mark Canha hasn't received much interest this offseason, and reports are that the Mets have offered him a non-guaranteed contract.

    I screwed up again. For A's, 30 homers I decided to go back to the Philadelphia days, and picked Johnny Mize, who was never an Athletic. I conflated him with Jimmie Foxx.

    I think everyone on Earth, and most of the people on other planets, would be happy if this just got resolved as quickly as possible. I really do want Pete back, but I'm also getting sick of seeing his name in all of these updates that don't really tell us anything.

    It really is. My news feed is full of proposed trade articles that, like you say, have no basis in actual reporting. There are also a lot of articles that have vague headlines, obviously to prevent you from finding out all you care to know from just reading the headline and not clicking. These headlines are currently in my feed. All designed to try to get me to find out what star player the Mets are supposedly about to get, or who they're about to trade.     I'm going into my 55th year as a Mets fan, and I still have to remind myself not to get my hopes too high over top prospects. For every Darryl Strawberry there seem to be a dozen or more Alex Escobars or Fernando Martinezes. Last year I was really eager to see Drew Gilbert. Now I've accepted that he may disappoint, as many others have. Don't read this as me giving up on him; there's absolutely no reason to do that. He may still turn out to be the Lenny Dykstra (the player, not the person) that I hope he will be.

    Apparently he cooled off. He's still only 23, and spent 2024 in Binghamton. .214/.304/.359, 13 homers, 17 doubles, 43 RBI in 114 games.

    I think that's how the NFL works too. The home team chooses, and usually picks the colors. The Cowboys, however, always pick the white at home and just about always wear the white on the road as well. I remember one team tried to psych the Cowboys out by wearing the white at home and making Dallas wear their rarely used blue jerseys.
