  1. I liked Holiday Inn better, even though the story in White Christmas made more sense. I'm not sure, but I think the real-life hotel chain Holiday Inn took its name from the Bing Crosby/Fred Astaire movie.
  2. It fizzled out. The last poll was posted in November 2014.
  3. I didn't know that! I thought it was a theatrical release in Australia.
  4. I've seen most of these movies. The exceptions are the Blade and Punisher movies, the second Deadpool, the second Ghost Rider, Elektra, Howard the Duck, and the 2015 Fantastic Four. Was the omission of Man-Thing intentional or unintentional?
  5. Daniel Dae Kim, formerly of Hawaii Five-0, has said that he'd love to play the Sub-Mariner. He observed that Namor is a character who looks like he could be played by an Asian actor, and he's right. Kim is 50 years old now, so he might be too old for the part by now, but that doesn't mean that another Asian actor can't play Namor if and when he eventually comes to the screen. It's a very good idea.
  6. Chinese actress Fan Bingbing played Blink in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
  7. There was an Asian character in the New Mutants back in the 1980s. Her name was Karma. And more recently, there was an Asian Hulk, Amadeus Cho.
  8. Marvel's first black hero, T'Challa, was from Africa, and their second (or third?) was a jive-talkin' guy with a chain for a belt. (I think Falcon debuted before Luke Cage, but I'm not sure.) While it was great that Marvel was introducing black characters, it's unfortunate that they were based on how white people view black people. (They're either from Africa or from the ghetto.) I guess it's not too surprising that it started out that way, but fortunately they've moved beyond those initial stereotypes.
  9. Toy Story 2 was a worthy sequel.
  10. One that goes undetected, I guess. Is this a horror film? I haven't seen it yet, but I had the impression it was more sci-fi than horror.
  11. It's a totally different character. I think you're thinking of Shazam, which is also an upcoming movie m
  12. Yeah, it was an okay movie, but not nearly as good as the first. My favorite part was the expression on Jack-Jack's face as his father was reading him a bedtime story. It was perfect, exactly the face I remember on my own kids, as they struggle to listen to the story while simultaneously trying to fight the urge to fall asleep.
  13. Yeah, that's the ideal way to do it. That final scene from First Avenger, when Steve Rogers runs out into Times Square, would be delayed until after, I don't know, Iron Man 2?
  14. Captain Marvel will eventually move into the 2 slot, from what I hear.
  15. I gave it four stars. I liked it more than I do most of these movies.
  16. dgwphotography wrote: There’s also a mice monument garden out behind center field. Now if only we can have something like that here... I guess they really love and appreciate mice in Baltimore. Maybe the Mets can do something to commemorate "pizza rat".
  17. Is John Belushi's 1941 a remake of From Here to Eternity? Or of Tora Tora Tora?
  18. Titanic: Real life event. King Kong: Fiction
  19. James Cameron's movie wasn't a remake, though. It was a new film about a subject that's been filmed before.
  20. I think so. I've been there a couple of times. They've kept things just as they were in 1963 (except that the trees are bigger) and it's like being on the set of a famous movie. (Actually, it is the set of a famous home movie.) And while you're there you can visit the Sixth Floor Museum.
  21. Go to Dealy Plaza.
  22. I had no problem understanding the dialog, but if you have issues understanding African accents, then maybe you should skip it. I remember when I was in Africa, we were on a shuttle with a couple of other people, and although they spoke English, and the driver spoke English, they couldn't understand anything he was saying. It was in the strange position of translating English to English. I can understand where you're coming from. I have similar problems in the Deep South. One time in Alabama, I blew out a tire and we stopped in a repair shop. I couldn't understand what the guy was saying and my wife had to translate. Also, I sometimes have to turn on closed captioning when I'm watching a TV show from the BBC.
  23. Yes. I liked it a lot. (Gave it four stars.)
  24. It does count for less. Frayed Knot can explain the details far better than I can, but bad seasons like 2017 get less weight than good seasons like 2015.
  25. Me too, especially since I decided to leave off Harvey, Matz, Wheeler, Gsellman, and Montero.
