  1. The Mets never did get a draft pick for Conforto, did they? Because he ended up waiting until the following offseason before signing with the Giants?
  2. A young player who has established himself, either with a year or two in the majors or even at AA or AAA is more of a known quantity than a draft pick. I'd rather have two well-regarded AA or AAA prospects than a draft pick.
  3. I think that's probably the case, but who knows, he may come back. Jay-or-reese Familia was traded to the Athletics and then resigned with the Mets the following winter. Pete seems to like being an LFGM. If the Mets decide they want him back, and the money is right, I don't think he'd refuse to return.
  4. Yeah, it really makes no sense. If you have a jones to gamble, do it on anything else but baseball. There are certainly many alternatives available.
  5. Sad, but not surprising.
  6. Maybe he needs thirty minutes with Rick Peterson.
  7. Have a great time! I would have loved to have been there, but it just wasn't practical for several reasons.
  8. How horrible.
  9. Maybe he needs fifteen minutes with Rick Peterson.
  10. He was one of the wife-swappers, wasn't he?
  11. There's a long history of celebrities trusting the wrong people with their money. One specific example I remember reading about was Kirk Douglas. He had a trusted advisor who ended up siphoning off a large chunk of the actor's fortune.
  12. I wouldn't say that they're in "full rebuild". This is an adjustment year, but it's not a back-up-the-truck year.
  13. I also can't help but think if Ryan Howard. (Without having looked up his numbers.)
  14. This is from Anthony DiComo's Mets Beat newsletter today: I wasn't aware that they used a different baseball at Triple-A than at Double-A. Why would that be? Wouldn't it make sense for MLB affiliated teams to use the same baseballs at all levels?
  15. I see that "VISION" is one of their "VALUES". And I guess "VISION" and "VALUES" are part of their "MISSION".
  16. I'd adopt him, but I don't need the responsibility! This Mets prospect leads the Minors in ERA
  17. He turned 23 in March. He's come up through the ranks, from the Florida Coast League to St. Lucie to Brooklyn before arriving at Binghamton. He's long been on the Mets ranked prospect list. Buzz is we may see him at Citi Field as soon as 2024.
  18. And there's also Phil Spector, but apparently he never hosted SNL. (I looked it up!)
  19. Robert Blake? Robert Wagner?
  20. I watched it for the first time about a year or so ago. One thing I noticed is that all (or most) of Travolta's friends got laid during the course of the film, but he never did.
  21. I've found that many people in Europe speak two languages... The language of whatever country they live in... and English. (More common in younger people, who've been learning English in school.)
  22. Jim Duquette, on Mets Hot Stove, suggested eight years, $240 million.
  23. I think someone from the group of Vientos, Baty, Mauricio, and Alvarez is going to get traded this winter. The Mets didn't want to trade any of these guys during the season but I suspect that one or more of them will be needed to swing any major trades. Alvarez is the most likely to stay. I think Baty is most likely to go, but not for any particular reason I can put my finger on.
