Chicago's asking price for Robert is "very high". I hope they come down from that stance. He's sucked for about two years now and he still has a lot of money coming to him. They should be happy to trade him for Paul Blackburn.

Trading Blackburn would be a salary dump. They're not at all likely to get anyone of much value for him.

I'd hate to see them give up on Mark Vientos at this point. His 2024 season has earned him some patience. He may fizzle out like Ike Davis did, but he still has too much upside. Let's keep him for a while longer.

I never saw it, at least not in its entirety. From the few clips I've seen, it appears that its heart was in the right place, but it was hampered by its low budget.

I'm sorta proud that I have two of the three incorrect answers. I just looked it up: Skip Lockwood had 65 saves with the Mets and only three with other teams. (One with the Angels and two with the Red Sox.) Neil Allen had 69 as a Met, five as a Cardinal, and one as a Yankee.

I was satisfied with it. They did justice to the characters, which was the most important thing. There were some plot holes that were rather silly, but I was willing to shrug them off. Some nice moments that appealed to the traces of fanboy in me. The Fantastic Four are my second-favorite team (after the Mets, natch) so if they get it right I'd be easy to please and if they get it wrong, I'd be hard to please. I was dissatisfied with the 2005 movie, couldn't bring myself to watch the 2015 movie, but was happy with the 2025 version. (What's next? 2035?)

I saw the Fantastic Four movie yesterday with my kids, who aren't really kids anymore. (Both in their twenties.) It was my first time in a first-run movie theater since before the pandemic! I had to come out of retirement for this one because I have an abiding affection for the characters that began when I was ten years old. And I apparently passed that on to at least one of my children.

Neither of these names are familiar. So far, anyway, Stearns still has all of the Mets top prospects available to him. This deal is the type that we'd expect from him; getting someone who's a little bit good without really denting the farm system.

30 years old and eligible for free agency this winter. This year he has a 3.96 ERA in 45 games. 1 save. Left-handed. 18 walks, 44 strikeouts, 29 hits, 2 homers allowed in 36.1 innings.

I was in Toronto on Sunday, and we were in the plaza just outside the stadium. The Blue Jays were playing the Giants, and the stadium roof was open, but I didn't hear any sounds at all coming from the ballpark. I had this conversation with Microsoft Copilot about it:

Juan Soto has walked 72 times, and the Mets have played 92 games. He's on a pace to walk 126.78 times this season, although it's unlikely he'll finish with that exact amount. The club record for walks in a season is 125, by John Olerud in 1999. No one else has come close. The next highest total is 97, by Keith Hernandez in 1984 and Darryl Strawberry in 1997. Meanwhile, Pete Alonso is now only five home runs shy of Strawberry's all-time club record. Brandon Nimmo recently became the 14th Met to have 900 hits. (He's currently at 905.) I looked it up, and examples were Vic Morrow and Brandon Lee, who died of accidents. Actors on set who died of natural causes include John Ritter and Tyrone Power.
