The Yankees lost the final two contests of their three-game series against Boston to fall 5 1/2 games behind the division-leading Red Sox but still hold a 1 1/2-game advantage over the Los Angeles Angels for the first AL wild card. The Yankees managed only five hits in Sunday's 10-inning setback, which was their eighth loss in 12 games this month. Rookie Aaron Judge leads the AL with 35 home runs but has gone deep just once in his last 11 contests. The Mets beat up on major league-worst Philadelphia over the weekend, winning three of four in the series - including a 6-2 decision on Sunday in which Curtis Granderson finished a triple shy of the cycle, drove in three runs and scored three times. Michael Conforto has homered in five of his last eight contests and leads all active Mets with 26 blasts.TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, ESPN, SNY (Mets), YES (Yankees)PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Rafael Montero (1-8, 6.06 ERA) vs. Yankees RH Luis Cessa (0-3, 4.83)Montero is winless in his last six starts, including a loss to Texas on Wednesday in which he yielded four runs on five hits and three walks over three innings. The 26-year-old Dominican has suffered four losses since registering his lone victory of the season at San Francisco on June 25, when he allowed one run in 5 2/3 frames. Montero made his major-league debut against the Yankees, taking the loss after giving up three runs in six innings on May 14, 2014.Cessa is expected be brought up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to make his fifth start of the season and first since July 18, when he escaped with a no-decision after surrendering three runs on four hits and four walks across 3 2/3 innings at Minnesota. Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 I hope the Mets spend the whole week dickslapping these guys.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Because it would not only help salvage a little bit of our season but it would go a long way towards ruining theirs. The AL East is already slipping away from the Yanx (5.5 games) and if just one or two of the [u:3vh1cld9]eight[/u:3vh1cld9] mediocrities on their tail could win more than a game or two in a row without stepping in their own shit then the WC would be in trouble also. The contenders for the AL WC may not be any good but that race should be fun to watch -- currently there are 9 teams inside a 5.5 game span. What's kept the Yanx in the lead is that those other eight are spending most of their time beating up each other.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 We will be tonight. What's the over/under on the runs Montero will surrender in the first two innings?I'm guessing 5.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 It's not like Cessa is good. or average. or okay.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 He'll be fine in the first 2 innings, it's the 4th and 5th that worry me. The 4th more, only because he won't pitch the whole fifth.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 What's the over/under on Judge HR's over the next four days? 6½?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 d'Kong76 wrote:What's the over/under on Judge HR's over the next four days? 6½?He doesn't really do that anymore.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 So you're taking the under!I'm torn, these stupid series seem to often morph into unpleasantness.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 d'Kong76 wrote:What's the over/under on Judge HR's over the next four days? 6½?Not as high as his over/under on strikeouts.46 in 97 ABs since the ASG.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Montero will throw a two-hit shutout! You heard it here first!

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 I really wish I could jump back into IGTs but my current connection is (horrible) wifi and the MLBtv broadcast won't play. If I'm lucky I can get the WOR radio broadcast though. Last night I got it for a few innings. If I can get that for the Skankee game I'll join in. If only to see how far behind in time the action is compared to my feed. lol.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Tonight's game -- and Wednesday's -- will be carried by ESPN if that's of any help.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Gardner - turning 34 y/o next week but in the midst of the best power season of his career - 19 HRs!!Hicks - just off the DL, this former 1st round bust (14th overall - 2008) for the Twins has been kind of like 'found money' for the Yanx, particularly with Ellsbury hurt and/or sucking. Good OF, Good armJudge - now that he's had two lousy stints (2nd half of 2016, since ASB 2017) and one good one (1st half 2017) which is real and which the outlier is still TBDGregorius - also recently off the DL, having his best season to dateSanchez - dangerous hitter, good arm, lousy catcher. Too bad we're lousy runnersHeadley - moved to 1st to make room for T. Frazier. Yanx basically can't wait to get rid of himFrazier - low average, good powerTorreyes - The hushed-up bastard son of Joe Torre and Jose Reyes. Contact & speed but little powerWade - Wouldn't recognize him if he and I were the only two stuck on an elevator, his name is either Tyler Wade or Wade Tyler, I'm not sure which.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Conforto and Judge each need 5 homers to make a milestone number. Get it on.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 31 is a milestone number?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Does Rosario's beard look a little well, uh. in need of a groom?
