Hopefully this will be short-lived, but at the moment the tarnish is real.Yup. A brand is only as good as the public perception of the brand. The character of Mr. Met needs to take a few days off to let this cool down.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 I think he needs to spend a few nights with Adriana Lima.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 No, because then Harvey will get all mopey again.
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 I didn't know it either. And full disclosure: I didn't know about Santana s no hitter.

For the Mets, it just never ends.I read this post early this morning, shortly after I woke up and still groggy with sleep. And as I got mid-way throuhj, I thought it was one of Greg's April Fool's joke. I read the rest of the piece, all the way to the end, while in the back of my mind, working out the calendar, still half-asleep, trying to figure out if today was April 1st.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 The employee won't be fired, it has been reported, but won't be on Mr. Met duty any longer.

Guest cooby Guests Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 . I see and I'll join the celebration now! I've been trying to figure out how I could possibly miss that news but I retired that summer so maybe I was just all happy about that!
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Ceets said he will LOL and move on (I mean, shit, we've all Trump to worry about IRL) but I think that's kinda the point... this episode adds to the #LOLMets perception that this organization will fuck up anything it can get it's 4-fingered, cartoon mitts on. And maybe the 7 Line or some copycat may sell Mr. Met/flipping-the-bird t-shirts, but if a handful parents don't wanna buy Mr. Met stuff for their kids now, then the brand def takes a hit and #LOLMets grows louder.

The perp has been reassigned to another position and will "never wear the Mr. Met outfit again".How will we know its somebody else? Later

If you ever see Mr. Met dry humping a woman in a Big Bird suit, well, then you know I've gone off the reservation.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 I wonder what Ms. Met has to say about all this.....she's been pretty quiet.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 I heard she's blaming Trump, the Russians, the vast right-wing conspiracy, and the DNC.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 I haven't read it yet, but I'm told Mr. Met wrote an article/columnin today's NYT Friday Sports section.(it's one of those as-told-by submissions to a reporter, he can't typewith those fat stubby finger...)
