Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 7:10 start, Colon vs. Tom Koehler. Should be an emotional night in Miami, you'd think.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 It's awkward. Like the Braves in 2001, or the Orioles in 1979, fate suggests the role they are supposed to play is gracious losers on the road, where all sympathy is with the home team. But they need this game.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I'm glad that Bartolo is starting. He can stay focused.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Also, the Marlins have an elimination number of 2. If the Mets win, that knocks them out.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Tom Koehler is too uneducated to figure out how the Magic Number works.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.Well, maybe up by 10 games for the division but come oooon, nothin's easy. If we can limp over the finish line before Jane Jarvis plays taps we have had one fantastically 'amazin' season. After that it's one extra Mets game at a time. Bonus baseball!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I still kinda don't know how to feel about this.I mean, I kinda smiled a little when I heard the Mets were winning. Then I clicked the radio off, and went right back to spending time-- hilarious time, intermittently-grating time, nourishing time-- with the familia. Baseball seemed a long way off today.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Yeah, they won 17-0, and nobody was into it. Terry already said that he's dreading tonight's game. If it wasn't so important, I'd actually be rooting for the Marlins to beat the Mets on this one night.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 It's strange knowing ahead of time that whatever happens you will remember this game for the rest of your life. Going to be tough to hold back tears tonight. But I definitely want to watch it. If his mother and grandmother are there I'm going to just lose it. This stuff was hard to watch before I had kids. But ever since my kids were born, I'm a complete mess when it comes to this stuff.I don't know how, but the Mets have to find a way to focus on the game tonight. Good luck boys. Also, I am having trouble coming to grips with the fact that despite what happened, a small part of me is glad they are not facing Fernandez. I know it's wrong and I feel like a total dickhead over it. But no matter how guilty I feel about it, the feeling is still there.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Reminds me of one of the NASCAR drivers who said, during the first race following the death of Dale Earnhardt (paraphrased to the best of my memory): 'I found out today that the only thing worse than seeing the black #3 car in your rearview mirror is not seeing it'
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Every Marlin will be wearing #16 tonight. Gonna be tough for our guys to focus on the task at hand. Let's hope they do.

It was still in unconfirmed Twitter report form, so I somehow didn't buy it. Therefore, my thinking was "he's not dead, but he won't face us," which didn't exactly mesh. A cake and eat it too desire, I suppose.Once it sunk in, I veered to sorrow and shame. Later I admitted my thinking to good friends of the Met persuasion. Each said, in essence, "yeah, me, too."
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 TK and Fernandez were apparently close: This is going to be very hard for everyone tonight.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Campbell gets the start at 1B even though it's a righty.

I resolve in the memory of your fallen teammate I'll refrain from jokes aboit how poorly educated you are, for at least 6 innings.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 This is incredibly moving
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 beautiful and unexpectedly perfect. take me out.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Teams embrace and well, we all lose itI love what Gary is saying as he breaks up , a young man who risked it all to get to this country, he couldn't help but think of that as the National anthem was played
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Wow, this is beyond emotional.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Hooolyyyy crap that was sad.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Tough to watch. So much tougher for them to go through. Didn't think about it much today, but now, like the start of last nights game, I'm bummed. I have to pull myself out of this. LGM!That was one of the most beautiful renditions of the Star Spangled Banner that I've ever heard. Like Gary, I guess after the tribute, I was extraordinarily moved by it.
