I saw a tweet about Niese for Bastardo and thought it was a prank.

If nothing else it gets the club out from under any commitment for next year.
Bastardo is signed for 2017, Niese for 2017 & '18 but a simple 500K buyout negates all that.


oe: plus the games just got about 10 minutes/game faster without Bastardo's actions on the mound

Getting out of the second year of the Bastardo mistake was the objective here. I was so convinced they couldn't I was basically advocating we trade Reed and promote Bastardo as a means of poor-man's reform.

I almost like the idea of a chastened Niese and the return of Leah and her amazin' lucky undies to WW.
