Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Mets should sign Phil Coke to put a cherry on top of the deal.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 I just hope Matt Harvey doesn't get the wrong idea.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 I wonder if they'll throw a curve and pick a different sponsor for the porch.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Landmark announcement... they're selling the team to Coca-Cola NOW!!!Coca-Cola Field, and Citi gets the porch plus banking business for life of the deal.FFQ=97.542%

metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 i think it would finally offer the opportunity to fully embrace doc and darryl...
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 I want to be the first team to get the warning track sponsored. I'm thinking Viagra is a natural fit.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Mr. Met and the Coke polar bear are supposed to be attending the NYSE stock bell ringing on Monday, indicating deal with Coke in the offing.Met sponsor-sellers are busy: Got email last week that the club will announce deets shortly of the 2016 Mr. Met Kids Club Presented by Melissa & Doug. Those 2 couldn't be bothered to present shit the last couple of years. My wife and I bought the mom and pop toy store in town here earlier this year (I guess that makes us the mom and pop). We've got oodles of Melissa & Doug merch. I'll be interested to see what the relationship is.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Wait... You own a toy store?Holy crap!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Atlanta iirc, has a gigantic soda bottle advertising their association with Coke. I think the Giants have something like that too. I will be shocked if this deal they announce tomorrow is something just as garish if not more. You figure if you're a gigantic brand like Coke you have to or risk looking weaker than Pepsi with a whole section of the stadium named for it and the giant ad, and all those years when you could get in free with a bottle on Wednesdays, etc.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 I think they took down the Fenway foul pole bottles a few years ago, IIRC.But, yeah, hey, great, giant Coke signage. WHOOT.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 Until this thread I had never heard of Melissa and Doug. Are they relatively new? Maybe they came along after my kids were too old for their toys? (My youngest is 14.)

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 LOL...I can probably get everyone a small discount if you visit us in Wisconsin.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Melissa & Doug are sort of a "retro" brand that makes wholesome toys out of wood that harken back to the kinds of stuff we might have played with as kids -- as opposed to the plasticy, electonic "modern" toys of the major "Big Toy" brands. As evidenced by marketing partnerships with the Mets though, they are actually becoming a big brand unto themselves. One of the best things we had for Jr. Lunchpail was Melissa & Doug easel. Got a lot of use.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 the paper on the Melissa & Doug fridge magnets are not safe to get wet, just fyi. A toddlers mouth for example, is fairly wet and makes the paper get ruined. poor goat.
