Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Elected to become a free agent. As Michael Kay might say, "See ya!"Dumbest. Hat. Ever.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 I always wondered if the cushion doomed him. How well would Jacob deGrom or Matt Harvey pitch with one of those things on? Not as well, I'd bet. Maybe not 6.82 walks per 9 innings, though.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I'm telling you, man. Don't say goodbye until they belong to another team.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 The hat. And that he sucked.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Was not good at getting lefties out.Not that great against righties either.
Mex17 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 How does this work? He was taken off the 40-man so now he gets to walk? Otherwise he does not yet have the service time (neither does Black).
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) Remember when Torres tried to steal Batman's cowl?[fimg=544:3uge1ihb]https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5687/22344973573_739dd50d1f_o.jpg[/fimg:3uge1ihb] Edited November 10, 2015 by Guest
Guest 86-Dreamer Guests Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 He let up so many baserunners that you could not trust him, but somehow managed to escape without an earned run in 31 of his 39 Met appearances. And the hat of course.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 He fell juuuuust a bit short of the expectations set by his digital counterpart in my OOT16 game, where he's been a bullpen ace for thirteen seasons, is still going strong in 2027, and somehow actually won the Cy Young as a middle reliever in 2020.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Electronic Torres is even more impressive than I thought. He actually is the all-time MLB leader in WHIP at 0.964, just ahead of Addie Joss and Billy Wagner, and third in opponent AVG and OBP.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Chamber pot on his head. Albeit one with a Mets logo on it.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) I can't mock him for the cap. Not a good look, but it's not easy being a safety pioneer. Edited November 11, 2015 by Guest

He came to the Mets and instantly ended a long history of walking a lot of people.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Bedpan head. Had a few good minutes on the mound.

Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Feels like he pitched for the Mets in a season prior to the most recent one.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Signed this evening to a minor league contract by the Braves. An interesting case was Álex Torres. Somehow managed to pitch his way off the team by walking the ballpark, while still posting a perfectly respectable ERA. Even as he often struck out a big hitter after initially putting two others on, nobody saw any sustainability in that act, and nobody argued for his continued retention.Wore an extraneous accent mark over the A in his first name. I mean, how else are you gonna pronounce it?Back when he was a Padre, he triggered one of Keith's more uncharitable and unfiltered Keith remarks, beholding his helmet-hat, crying, "If you're scared, get a dog."
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 He was previously remembered
