This says Grandy was playing with a torn ligament in his thumb since game 3 of the NLCS. If you look close at the clip included you can see the thumb bend in a bad way. YOUCH! But torn? I find this hard to believe.

Mets' Curtis Granderson has surgery to repair torn ligament in thumb

Oh yeah, I'm on his side :D

When one of my best friends, who is a Yankee fan, wrote and told me "you got Grandy!" I have to admit I thought, "who?"

But he's in my heart now

Something so cool about when a guy goes from the Yankees to the Mets. Especially now that the Mets have shed that noxious black hat habit. Yeah, maybe he has to prove he's not evil and all of that. But there is something about seeing him in the blue had with popping orange coming out of it after years in the colorless, joyless Yankee kit, that makes it look like he just got out of jail.

I'm like, "Hey, look who got let out. Good for him. He looks pretty good, considering."

Seriously, who among you can deny that Carlos Beltran has looked like a convict for the last few years?

I'm a huge fan of the black Mets hat! Especially since blue does not exist in my wardrobe!

It's no crime to like a black Mets hat. It just oughta be one.

Unlike youse scumbuckets what can't wear the colors when you wear the colors, though... Grandy's simply standup. If you need a guy for that 3 am I-don't-know-where-I-am-man pickup and ride home, but you can't quite bring yourself to ring DW... You're calling Curtis. And he won't even make you feel like an asshole for doing so. Much. May start an Instagram account with, like, "I'm Drunken, Stranded LWFS" as the handle, maybe.

I'll 'fess up. He was one of the few MFYs I could watch without reaching for the remote. (The only one, actually)

I like Curtis the player. Can you think of many other players who have changed their role for the good of the team? He went from middle of the order run producer to effective leadoff hitter.
I like Curtis the charitable person, giving time and money to help inner city kids learn baseball and have a place to play it..
He's an all around, well spoken good guy. He has the pipes to easily slide into a front of the mike role in radio or TV. If Bob Gelbs has such a job, Curtis should own the network.

I've probably told this story, but at my dad's wake, I met a guy named Tim Condon. I only type his name in full because there's got to be a thousand Tim Condons in the tri-state area. I had perhaps met Mr. Condon when I was a child, but I'm not sure. But I knew him, because my dad had a half a dozen Tim Condon stories he told with great regularity. But Tim came up to me that night and told me the granddaddy of 'em all. About how he had to come and pay tribute to my dad that evening because my dad gave him the mother of all "3AM-I'm-drunk-and-stranded-and-not-sure-where-I-am" pickup of all time.

I and I think I can speak for Tim Condon also can think of no finer tribute to Curtis Granderson.

For doing the Lucas Duda Instragram account and nothing more, Grandyman would be this team's MVP. But he had a good year too.

Why do so many people think the Yankees caps are black,
the are a very dark navy blue.

(and I know you can buy one in 50 different colors probably,
including black, but I'm pretty sure the real ones are blue)

This black Mets hat,

would be fine with me IF they only wore it on the road with the grey unis that say 'NEW YORK' across them.

Other than that, I have no use for any black anywhere on any Met uniform.

This one is simply fucking atrocious and never should be spoken of ever again.

And Curtis Granderson can hang with me anytime he wants.

I don't think the black caps are ugly caps. I just don't think the Mets should ever wear them. The blue cap is the most glorious cap in all of sports. Don't mess with perfection.

Curtis Granderson is still beloved in Michigan and its been, what, five years since he played here? Quality person on and off the field. Had a great season.

Yankees can't even match the logo on the cap with the one on the jersey and the one on the batting helmet. You have one logo -- get it right!

Didn't there used to be separate threads for discussions about unifirms? IIRC one was called "Uni Watch".
Can't something like that be (re)started again?
Just asking.

I have no problem with black Mets hats on the head of civilians, but they shouldn't be on Mets.

However, royal blue (any blue, really) clashes with black. The bottom hat would look fine if they stripped the blue and the white off the insignia and let the orange insignia stand alone, rather than relegating it unjustly to a drop shadow. It's like they had old New York Giants hats but were ashamed of them.

And Curtis looks great in Mets clothes. He looks like a ballplayer.

Granderson was the Mets most consistent player over the full course of the season and for that reason, he is the team MVP in py opinion. He seems to be a fine, upstanding person off the field as well and a wonderful representative of the team. The Mets would benefit by having more players like him on the roster.

I remember an at bat that Granderson had, either late in the season or early in the postseason, where he fouled a ball off his foot or his shin, and was grimacing in pain. He was making a "damn that hurts!" kind of face, but then he caught himself and switched to his usual "Hey, everything's cool" face. That struck me as such a totally Curtis thing to do.

It's funny. I like Granderson too.

I like the guy and told him he sucks.

I defended Benitez all those years and never liked him.

I loved the black unis and hats if only because some of my favorites just looked so good in them.

But Mets blue and orange are the colors after all.
