I'm cautiously pessimistic about tonight. I sorta feel like Halladay will pick us to get back to himself and that Harvey was spoilt by facing the meek Padres and while the Phillie lineup isn't murders row, it's a lot stronger then either of the two we've faced.

Peep his PitchFX numbers: Halladay's got something of the same issue as Johan faced-- diminished velocity, leading to too-small a velocity difference between FB and change. The control is just as good as ever, but he's significantly more hittable... at least until he learns how to permanently adjust.

I did hear Buster Olney and Curt Schilling talk about it (think it was that combo, on Baseball Tonight Podcast anyway) and how Roy Halladay was going to have to adjust to not being able to beat hitters in the zone anymore and that's an adjustment one can make but that if, for 6 years or whatever, you've been able to beat them in the zone it takes a while to figure that you can't go in there anymore and get away with it.
On the same podcast they were pointing out how the k's didn't necessarily mean anything more then that the braves hitters were trying to hit the yoke out of the park because it was feeling very hittable to them and braves hitters are going to strike out if they're going for it.
On the other hand, I will not accept that he's anything other then a dominant beast until long after tonight.

Well, he didn't have a good year last year.

He'll adjust. He just has to find that proper differential between whats left of his heat and his off speed stuff. He'll find it. Probably tonight >< DOH!

Harvey gets out of a lil jam. Great pitching to Utley. Last pitch to Howard hits 98 on the gun.

Yea to the blue unis, but wear the orange brim with these. Who makes these calls?

John Buck doesn't want you to worry about when some kid's arbitration clock starts.

Ginger Face is unravelling. I love it.

We need more discussion about David telling (silently) that Phillies fan in the front row to fuck off.
