Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Tough week for injuries to stars:- Matt Kemp, just one day off the DL for a hammy strain, strained his hammy and is going right back on the list with an injury he calls worse than the earlier one- Troy Tulowitski has a strained groin (hopefully his own) and is being DL'd- Nick Markakis in Baltimore has a broken hamate bone in his hand and surgery is being investigated. Either way it doesn't sound like he's coming back soon.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 the worst part of having too many fantasy leagues is you're generally going to have 3 guys injured a day. it's ap ain.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 I consider it a small victory that Verducci posted an article today about all of the high-priced, big name players there are on the DL and not a Met was mentioned. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/tom_verducci/06/01/all.dl.team.draft/index.html?xid=cnnbinObviously, we have our fair share of injuries...and they aren't necessarily big-name players (although Bay makes a boatload of cash), but the jist of the article is about how much money is currently being wasted on players sitting on the DL.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 SS and C depth were probably the worse possible places though.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 1, 2012 Author Posted June 1, 2012 I'm going to go with third base and number one starter. Or, as it turns out, third base and number two starter.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Edgy DC wrote:I'm going to go with third base and number one starter. Or, as it turns out, third base and number two starter.Well, granted he's hitting .370 or whatever, but the drop off from Thole->Nickeas was pretty bad.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 1, 2012 Author Posted June 1, 2012 Wright to Turner or Wright to Lutz likely would have been also.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Sherman says Elvin Ramirez was hurt during the no hitter celebration last night. He will most likely head to the DL without ever having gotten into a game for the Mets after being called up yesterday.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2012 Author Posted June 2, 2012 Get's a big league salary on the DL, though. How about that? We give up Schwinnie in order to activate the guy and he gets hurt in an orgy while pig-piling on top of a guy he doesn't even know.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2012 Author Posted June 2, 2012 Chris Young, according to at least one report, is going to skip his last two warmups and get a start in Washington.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Even more bizarre is it appears that Ramirez was late to the party, arriving about a minute into the celebration, after all the piling on had occured. Maybe pulled a leg muscle on the jog from the bullpen?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Rubin tweeted that it may have been RAMON Ramirez, not Elvin, who got hurt in the celebration.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Really? They don't know who was hurt? Maybe they can do a DNA test or something.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Hey, you know all those Ramirez-es look alike.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 According to the ESPN Baxter is out six weeks with collarbone and rib injuries, which is regrettable. Ramon Ramirez also going to the DL with a hamstring strain suffered in post no hitter celebration, which is fucking retarded.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Dont any of these pile jumpers know what happened to Kendry Morales?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2012 Author Posted June 2, 2012 Totally clears the path for Elvin to get some meaningful innings though.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Ramon wasn't right anyway, looked out of shape, and with the Other Ramirez/Beato/Mejia on their ways it's not the worst thing that could happen.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 I know. Getting excited about individual injuries to our bullpen feels like, "Oh, no-- you crashed into my mulch pile, and made it look like shit!"(How about that Pagan trade, eh?)
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Latest expectations: Bay to return on Tuesday, Tejada on Friday.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Also according to Terry postgame: Bay be illin' with flu symptoms in PSL. He's NOT coming back tomorrow (though later in the Nats series hasn't been ruled out).
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 He'd rather be in Beirut, Peter Gammons is reporting.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Rauch's tenderness is supposedly in his elbow, which is not a good sign.Bay has the flu? Really?
