I won't feel bad for MFY fans, but as for dancing on his figurative grave? Come on. He hasn't murdered anybody. (Just, y'know, willfully acted in a way that could very feasibly kill somebody, at LEAST once.)

Far be it from me to tell you not to laugh, or what to do in any emotionally-charged situation. But let me humbly suggest that you might want to reconsider those Joba jokes:

Joba Chamberlain lost so much blood Thursday when he hurt his ankle while playing with his son that there initially was concern for his life, a Yankees source said When Chamberlain was hurt, bone was sticking out of his ankle and he was bleeding profusely, a team source said. Paramedics were called and Chamberlain was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Open dislocation; they reportedly had to give him several units of blood upon arrival at the ER to keep him alive. And keep in mind that his five-year-old son was watching the entire time.

WOW, that's just really awful, feel awful for him and his son.....Christ.

it's definitely awful. I tell myself I'm not a horrible person because he was obviously stable by the time we heard. I figured it had to be pretty bad when they said he'd be in the hospital for several days.

The incidence of crippling injuries related to backyard trampolines is such that someday folks are going to look back on our era and wonder why they weren't outlawed.

this was at one of those kid playcenters not a backyard trampoline. as said above the fact that this happened in front of his son has got to be personally horrible for Joba beyond whatever humiliation he oughta feel.

Lunchy goes to a birthday party at one of these joints every week or two.

I hear you. I still want to get across my point of adults destroying themselves on those things, no matter where they are. Fun, fun, fun... crippling injury. But supervisors let a 260-pounder get on and mess around.

Well, sure, he's a celebrity. Every place like that I've ever been to has age limits. If I remember right, you can't go on the equipment if you're over 12, or something like that.

I was reading the details of the injury in the paper this morning.... GAH!

That could be awkward if they hit a ball to him. WHOAH!

fwiw - young Siena Stokes managed to fracture (very small but fracture) her leg on a trampoline at neighbours party. God knows it was ridiculous how it happened (but thank's be to god I wasn't the adult in charge of her at the time for that was the mrs!) 2 weeks in a cast (way back in october) but one does question the whole trampoline thing pretty quick after that!

According to several sources, Frank Francisco was to have an MRI this afternoon, despite his insistence that his right knee felt fine subsequent to a draining.

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. Closer Frank Francisco said he planned to have a magnetic resonance imaging test on his left knee Monday night.

Francisco, who joined the Mets on a two-year, $12 million contract over the winter, said he had some recurring soreness in the knee since the start of camp.

The last game I pitched, in the first inning, it was fine, Francisco said of his two-inning appearance Saturday. Then when I sat on the bench, resting for the next inning, it felt like it got cold a little bit, and I didnt feel like it was right. So I told them.

He said he had fluid drained from the knee Sunday. He went through his normal workout Monday.

I dont feel pain or anything, he said.

Francisco has struggled this spring, allowing 9 runs in 13 innings. But Manager Terry Collins has said repeatedly that he is not worried about Francisco and that he expects his performances to improve as soon as he begins to pitch in games that count.

Crap.

What sucks for him is that happens while he's not on the roster, denying him a chance to earn a big league salary for the next year while he's on the DL.

Yeah, probably, Valdespin can play SS and it'd be nice to have a backup one of those. Guess you could do Baxter but he's playing actually fairly well so..

Or maybe somebody else gets hurt by then.

Last year's spring trip to Colorado is where the 2011 Mets exploded, with a modest collision on the mound between Wright and Davis led to about a year's worth of infirmity between them. I'm kind of hoping that they can exorcise some ghosts while they're back in town.
