bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Wow. It was fun following the game with you. After 2 horrible loses, this win feels so good.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Pelfrey owes all of his teammates beer. All of us too, for that matter.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 When Howie said this would be the biggest comeback win in eleven years, I thought to myself, what about that game against the Braves? Then I remembered, that was eleven years ago.If the Mets make something of this season, this game will be looked on as the turning point.
Guest attgig Guests Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 wow.... having fun watching a mets game, that's a good feeling.(i had a meeting where i missed the first 3 innings... LOL).
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Ed Leyro and Joey remind us that the last time the team came from five or more runs down was Setember 15... against Paul Maholm and the Buccos.

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 stepped out to a sports bar to watch the last few innings. Didn't take the sting out of yesterday's debacle, but it was better than a sharp stick in the eye.But taking out the best bat in the lineup (beltran) with only a 2-run lead, in order to get a slight defensive upgrade in RF, is the kind of thinking that would make Earl Weaver spin in his grave (is Weaver dead?) I mean, was it inconceivable that FRod coughs up the lead in the 9th? Then what? We have to win in Xtra Innings without Beltran? Unless Beltran's knee was hurting, that's the kind of overmanaging at the margins that makes me dislike the ****bunter.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Bay made the last out (surprise!!) so he would have been the logical one to double-switch. There was speculation in the booth about a tight hammy on Beltran as the reason why him.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 O'Connor optioned to Buffalo, no corresponding move as yet.Turner wins rookie of the month, would you believe he's the first Mets player to win it since it was established in 2001 , per Rubin.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Tight hammie and cleared in the lineup. I can roll.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Fucking awesome game to be at. Citi Field doesn't quite explode the way Shea did for historic-type comebacks, but individual fans still make their own kind of ruckus.Loved TC leaving Pelf in. It felt like he was telling him, you got us into this, you do your part to get us out of it. Loved Murphy up against Maholm pre-Aesop's fables, lefty vs. lefty. Didn't understand the balk business from sweet (informally upgraded ) Sec. 124 seats, but glad it worked out. Had a strange feeling that 7-0 wasn't fatal. Also figured it very well could be and it might become a good day to sample the best of the Citi Food thread.9-8 way more satisfying.

Our family apparently makes interesting Met game debuts. My wife's first Met game was pretty good too.

So I can arrange to bring the next child to a big game but the Mets have to get to the point where they're playing in a big game first.
