Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 How many years in a row of free agency is this for Orlando Hudson?
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 anybody else have interest in brandon webb? i do. incentive laden with a low floor, but definitely interest. hiroki kuroda interests me as well.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I'd be curious about Webb... but he does have a 2009 Sheets-y whiff to him.Kuroda and-- gasp-- Pavano make more sense.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 For bullpen depth, will the Wookie's demands be a little too rich?

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I used to make a team of Free Agent Ex-Mets (The Faems) every year. Thanks Vic for saving me the effort. Not that I would've done it this year.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 OK, why don't I remember a thing about Yorvit Torrealba on the Mets? Did they sign him to a minor league deal that never panned out?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Torrealba was actually never a Met.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 He was an almost Met a couple of years ago. The Mets and Torrealba agreed on a contract, but then the Mets backed out.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 yeah, he signed a contract, then it was nullified. I think that technically made him a met for about an hour.-R
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 At least you didn't retro-actively award the 1985 Cardinals a championship.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I used to conflate Torrealba and Rod Barajas. But not anymore.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Kris Benson SPMike Hampton these two are still at it?did I see Russ Springer's name in there?Regarding Feliciano , from Rubin1) Mets must offer salary arbitration by midnight on Nov.23 for right to draft pick compensation2)Pedro must accept arb by Nov. 30. The Mets are still permitted to sign Pedro even if they don't offer arb3) Offering arb to Feliciano to get pick between first and second round means you are willing to go to arb with him , and he made $2.9 million in 2010......Other The non tender deadline for players with less than 6 years service is Dec. 2nd - John Maine will be cut by then and probably Green too.NEW RULENew Rule for 2010 - Free Agents may negotiate with any club at midnight on the 5th day after the World Series, bidding begins on Saturday night.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 1) Offering arb to Feliciano to get pick between first and second round means you are willing to go to arb with him...Thanks, Adam.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 - Reds pick up options on P Bronson Arroyo and OF Johnny Gomes- Padres pick up their option on Adrian Gonzalez- Boston's Adrian Beltre [u:3rhocb9i]declines his player option[/u:3rhocb9i] for $10mil and opts, instead, for FA-gency
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Rangers decline mutual option on Vlad Guerrero.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Carl Crawford, but that won't happen.Andy Pettitte?
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 I'm perfectly willing to go year-to-year with Feliciano. I don't seem him getting a huge raise in arbitration, and he's capable of improving on this past season. On the other hand, if somebody else offers him multiple years I'm OK with taking the draft pick and looking elsewhere.Unless the Mets somehow find money for Cliff Lee (and based on this past year they will probably need to cut some payroll before they can get aggressive with anybody), I'd be looking for somebody who'd take a year and an option to be starter #5. That would probably wait until January. There does seem to be decent depth at second base, which is encouraging.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 My question is how badly damaged might he be from that crazy workload.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 you don't give long-term Ks to LOOGYs who hold records for most appearances.i think thats a dictum to live by.Garland's a FA again, by the way. 200IP/3.4 ERA
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 The one who surprised me for being still at it was Bruce Chen.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Sawx pick up $12.5 option on Papi -- I wasn't so sure they were going to do that for a while.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Edgar Renteria - option NOT picked up by Giants.I can't believe a team would cut loose its WS MVP. I mean what kind of .... oh, never mind.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Prince Fielder looking for a $200 million contract extension.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Yeah so am I, and I have only a slightly lower chance of getting one than Prince.

That order can be used to determine which pick goes where if a team signs multiple FAs.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Geeze. There are no type a or b 2Bman there. Castillo may very well be the best option.Or how about this new japanese infielder that i saw on metsblog?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I think the Metsos are leaning toward Murphy.
