I'm pretty sure (but not dead certain) 2000 was Hamilton's only Opening Day start. He was battling injuries in 2001 and Payton was the incumbent CF.

As I'm thinking about this, Mookie wouldn't have started in left on Opening Day, because his LF experience was mostly limited to '86 and after that we had Kevin McReynolds. I vaguely recall him in RF on Opening Day 1981 however, to go with his many starts in CF.

Not super confident on this one, but Tim Foli 2B & SS. I think Foli was at second to begin '78 and eventually switched positions with Flynn, which is where they would have started '79.

Or not.

OE: Kelvin Chapman started at 2B in '79. Flynn, however, had other 2B Opening Day starts later.

What makes it interesting is that it's three bad fielders and one questionable one.

As Pete Rose showed us moving around the diamond, inability can be the mother of versatility. Even among the two position guys, how many modestly talented defenders have we guessed correctly so far? Alfonzo, Maddox, Wilson. Maybe Vizcaino.

Ok, no guessing and seven guys remain.

Hints:

The first guy played mostly outfield before becoming a Met, and then was mostly an infielder.

The second guy, I think, has a picture taken by TheMetFairy accompanying his Wikipedia article.

Guy number three was the first of his kind.

The fourth guy was traded for a phantom Met, a player who never suited up but was flipped a short while later.

Guy number five got into 883 games over eight seasons, but only three opening day starts.

Guy number six: Two-time All-Star, Gold Glove winner, triples champion, but none of that for the Mets.

Last guy was a legacy, his father having been a big-league pitcher.

I have no memory of David Segui playing anywhere but 1B, but I'll guess that son-of-a-pitcher as the last guy. Did he ever start in RF?
