This is the passage that bothers me:

1) This move was telegraphed late afternoon on Sunday when Jacobs was DFA'd rather than optioned to the minors, thus opening a spot on the 40-man roster. If blessings needed to be secured, and it needed to be explained to the manager, then one would think that it would have happened before the Jacobs maneuver was made. If the approval was not granted, then they could have simply sent down Jacobs.

2) Ownership has to approve it? Are you kidding? Maybe if it's Jerry Jones, owner/GM but not when you have an independent GM. This isn't a trade that impacts payroll, it's a baseball decision.

Sherman is actually pretty decent; he's generally been more on-point with facts and more tempered in terms of expectation than 9/10 of the NY beatfolk (including the entirety of the Snooze, and most of his own paper, Vaccaro excepted).

One of the reasons why Buffalo was an attractive option over other cities was it's closeness to Flushing, a decision can be made at 11am and the player can be in the team that night......yet the Mets are still wrong.

Either way, it could have and should have been done within a short time frame and not taken from 5 PM Sunday until noon on Monday. Piniero said that the Mets didn't reply to him quick enough and others made similar complaints about the Mets actions this past winter. It comes across that the Mets have too many layers and are too bureaucratic.

This, sorta. Either Sherman has to do some serious apologizing, or the organization's management problems don't begin to be solved with an Omar firing. (I'd still bet it's the former, but... yipe.)

If, as suggested, it could mean anything, then it was a poor choice of words on his part (he could have said "Minaya waited to announce the move until he informed ownership"). Much like you're supposed to ask the woman's father for his blessing, it's almost always a given that he's going to give it and you're going to do it anyway.

Well, if you're asking to promote Mike Jacobs, say you'll be nice, play him at Catcher on odd days, that blessing might not be as automatic.

It's seems pretty clear that this was all teed up as the reason behind Davis' hitless debut, leaving Sherman forced to scrap together an alternative angle on last night's game, but it was easier and juicier to twist one into a shape that could fit.

Does he even think that even the most panicky, or picnicky, or picketing, Mets fans are all tied up about Ike Davis right now? He's here, only a couple of weeks "late" (if you want to call it that) and he had a nice debut in a Mets victory. Things right now are sunnier than they've been for quite a while.

Not to mention, the slight delay in calling him up is more likely to help the 2016 Mets than to hurt the 2010 Mets.
