Wanna catch the Strasburg tour before it hits the big time?

He's scheduled to make his last minor-league start this Thursday at Coke Field against your Buffalo Buffalo.

wish I could take time off.

I'm considering a Bisons visit for June 12th (but may get trumped by visiting Camden Yards instead. Interesting, btw, that the Orioles are playing the Yankees June 10th, and the Mets june 11th. You could concievably go down there, root for the Orioles on Thursday and against them Friday)

4-1 over the Syracuse Chiefs last night @ Coca-Cola Stadium.

Murphy: 2-4, didn't embarrass himself at second. He's at .313/.313/.500 with 6 XBH over 33 PAs at Buffalo (.419/.444/.651 throughout his entire minor-league stint).

Feliciano: 0-3, BB. BA's down to .395 on the year. BOOOOOOOOOOO!

Hessman: 2-4, HR (18-- one short of Marlins UberSuperExtraProspect Stanton for the lead in organized baseball)

Thole: 1-3, RBI 2B. Still unreasonably hot (.424/.513/.697 with 7 XBH over the last 10 games).

Tejada: 1-4. .295/.343/.361, seasonally.

Misch: 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R (earned), 0 BB, 7 K. He's 5-1 w/2.83 ERA on the year.

Parnell: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K. 3rd save in the last few weeks. Untouchable.

Working a bit more with the slider-- and getting its release point the same as his fastball and other stuff-- of late, Parnell's turned a corner.

APRIL-MAY 10: 11 G, 17 IP, 16 H, 9 ER, 15 K, 13 BB

MAY 13-JUNE: 7 G, 13 1/3 IP, 10 H, 5 ER, 19 K, 1 BB

More and more it's clear that it makes no sense for Gary Matthews Jr. to be here. Call up Hessman now. If Pagan gets hurt, insert Frenchy for the remainder of the game then call up Feliciano. It makes no sense to prepare for a situation that might happen while hurting yourself nightly in pinch-hitting situations that are all but guaranteed.

I don't anticipate that happening, but I'm certainly with you.

I kind of like the balls-out roster management that will occasionally lead to somebody playing awkwardly out of position once in a while. It makes them human.

But I don't think most managers like it.

Day game today in Buffalo.
Dillon Gee against some guy named Strassburg.
Last night's game had a 2 hour rain delay. The announcers were saying that by the time it ended, the fans might as well wait around for the start of today's game.

there's an understandable reluctance by managers & gm's to take a risk with something that can go wrong and *BE SO OBVIOUSLY TOTALLY YOUR FAULT*

ie: Castillo's pop drop last year was terrible, but it didn't cost Omar/Jerry their job. If Daniel Murphy had done it having been shunted into 2b for a week rather then Alex cause he could hit while Castillo was having a case of the owies then that might cost you your job.
I'm not saying it's right.
If LaRussa wasn't LaGenius he'd have copped way more shit for that 20 inning piece of crap then he did.

The Buffs showed Norfolk traitors what they missed out on by kicking the Mets out of town, completing a three-game sweep at Norfolk's Harbor Park. The sweep leaves the Bisons a half a game behind the Syracuse Chiefs in the International Leauge's Northern Division.

Jesus Feliciano prepares to head to New York and leave behind .385 batting average, 57 points above his nearest International League competitor.

The Marlins have responded to the Mets sweep by calling up slugging prospect Mike Stanton, which should eliminate a big chunk of the competition in Mike Hessman's bittersweet pursuit of a minor league home run title.

Unlike the parent team, the Bisons have been playing some of their best ball on the road, where they've now won seven of their last nine. Their southern swing takes them next to Durham, where Bobby Livingston, Dillon Gee, and Tobi Stoner take the mound against the Bulls.

Livingston was tossed from his last start after hitting Syracuse's Josh Whitesell in the back of the head. Whitesell, not particularly dazed in his Gazoo helmet, could be seen in replays mouthing "it was a breaking ball" but the ump ran Livingston, interpreting the pitch as payback for Whitesell knocking Josh Thole out of the game in the first inning, catching the Buffalo catcher on the noggin with his backswing.

Bobby Parnell has had a dimming effect on the lights, throwing 6.1 scoreless over his last four appearances. Bobby leads the Bisons' bullpen in strikeouts (34), innings pitched (30.1), appearances (18) and holds (4).

Per Lennon

Jesus Feliciano was not in today's starting lineup for Triple-A Buffalo, further evidence that he will join the Mets for tomorrow's series opener against the Padres at Citi Field. Pretty much what we told you in today's story in the wake of Omir Santos' demotion to Double-A Binghamton on Sunday.

Looks like Jason Bay -- the Mets' interim backup centerfielder -- can breathe easy again.

OK,
I wanted to wait until y'all fully digested your breakfast before I posted this.
In last night's Buffalo game, Mike Jacobs struck out four times and hit a solo homer.
Typical, right?
Not exactly.
His home run was inside the park.

See, told ya'.

A 10-1 drubbing? Shut out for six innings by former temmate Nelson Figueroa? Seven losses in a row? Sounds like somebody misses Jesus Feliciano.

As I listen to the broadcasts of their games, it seems like the present lineup is a strikeout waiting to happen. Feliciano was the only real "put the ball in play" kind of hitter they had. Fernando Martinez has rejoined the team after DL rehab, and has been hitting well since his return.

Fernando really mashed a walkoff grand slam tonight.

And Josh Thole had two doubles and a homer.

Kapowie! Hard to hit it much harder than that, though it looked like a real hanger on delivery, didn't it?

Great to see the mascots in on the pig pile at the end.

The Mets have picked up 30-year-old minor-league veteran Jorge Padilla from the Blue Jays system, in order to add depth at Buffalo.

As a singles-hitting utility outfielder having a good year, but on the wrong side of father time, he should fit right in where Jesus Feliciano left off, and his presence in Buffalo should give Feliciano some confidence that the Mets aren't looking to replace him right off.

He had a brief tryout last year wtih the Nats, and kinda stunk up the joint. He has a good arm and went 2-6 in his first start as a Bisonian. Padilla had actually been setting the world on fire, hitting .439 in the month of June, and was shocked to hear of the deal.

"Oh man, it caught me by surprise," Padilla said of the trade. "I didn't really know I was going to get traded. Here I am. I'm healthy, thank God, and looking forward to keep doing what I was doing."

Ken Oberkfell added, "The guy is a good hitter and makes things happen." That's the sort of quote that shows why Obie can be my AAA manager any day.

Padilla had previously passed through the organization, going .295 / .358 / .415 // .773 for Binghamton in 2006. These slash stats are so close to his minor league career line (.290 / .358 / .416 // .773) that it's almost nutty.

Key facts: Same home town as Pedro Feliciano. Wife's name is Sheila.

Bisons avoid the sweep by Charlotte yesterday as Pat Misch wins his seventh.

Val Pascucci hits his ninth homer in only 33 games. He currently has more homers than singles (8). His 17 walks are nothing to sneeze at though, and it gets his OBP up to a respectable .336 despite a .222 batting average.

The Mets sent reliever Clint Everts to Toronto to acquire Padilla. Everts was the high school teammate of Scott Kazmir and iirc looked like a potential PenPal in spring training but was pitching to a 6.94 ERA with Bingo.

So, in his first 20 games as a Bison, Jorge Padilla actually has a higher batting average (.333) than he had in his first 50 games with Las Vegas. If the Mets keep Jesus Feliciano up (Carlos Beltran may have something to say about that), he may not qualify for the batting title and Padilla might steal it away.

Another midseason acquistion, Jacob Turner, has been hitting well from the second base position (not literally from the postition), and has put up a .300 / .349 / .394 // .742 line since coming over from Norfolk. The 25-year-old had a cuppa with Baltimore this season, before being claimed by the Mets.

Maybe this should be in the Bridesmaids thread, but heck with it.
