Projected lineups, subject to change:

  1. Coghlan, lf
  2. Maybin, cf
  3. Ramirez, ss
  4. Cantu, 3b
  5. Uggla, 2b
  6. Ross, rf
  7. Baker, c
  8. Sanchez, 1b
  9. Johnson, p
  1. Pagan, cf
  2. Castillo, 2b
  3. Reyes, ss
  4. Bay, lf
  5. Wright, 3b
  6. Murphy, 1b
  7. Francoeur, rf
  8. Barajas, c
  9. Santana, p
Florida

Cantu may end up back at first before long, but they don't really have too many good options. Gaby Sanchez has hit everywhere but the majors, so he's at the front of the line to grab a shot at first.

With Jeremy Hermida gone, Cameron Maybin, Cody Ross, and soph sensation Chris Coghlan --- who shared time among them last year --- stretch out and try and make an outfield with the three of them.

Good luck to them. But in this game, I predict they will all fall down, like toy soldiers.

Good luck to them. [/quote:2drvqkvo]

I wish them nothing but poor luck. I find the Marlins to be generally insufferable and guilty of a multitude of sins, whether it was their classless actions on the last day at Shea, or Dan Uggla embarrassing the National League in the all-star game, or even Hanley Ramirez's inability to wear his hat straight.

Screw them. I hope they go 19-143* this year.

* If they can beat the Phillies each time they play -- that's fine by me.

Not having Beltran leaves that lineup looking rather thin.

Opening Day last year had a stronger lineup perhaps?

Reyes, SS
Murphy, LF
Beltran, CF
Wright, 3B
Delgado, 1B
Church, RF
Schneider, C
Castillo, 2B
Santana, P

Pagan is no Beltran, but big-picture-wise, I feel more confident in at least knowing what I can expect from Bay and Francoeur in 2010 than I did from Delgado and Church in 2009.

If Francoeur was as committed as you to walking this season I'd be happier.

A lot of controversy around facts (and way too much bloodletting), but virtually all scenarios have Jose Reyes unavailalbe for opening day.

Cameron Maybin and Cody Ross are each day-to-day with strained groins, presumably unrelated. Both are expected to be ready for the opener.

  1. Coghlan, lf
  2. Maybin, cf
  3. Ramirez, ss
  4. Cantu, 3b
  5. Uggla, 2b
  6. Ross, rf
  7. Baker, c
  8. Sanchez, 1b
  9. Johnson, p
  1. Pagan, cf
  2. Castillo, 2b
  3. Wright, 3b
  4. Bay, lf
  5. Francoeur, rf
  6. Murphy, 1b
  7. Barajas, c
  8. Cora, ss

Way to bring it, G. I'd like to add Cody Ross to the long list of good reasons to hate the Marlins. Why?

a) His name is Cody
B) He looks like a chipmunk
c) Fuck him, that's why

Still like that Mets lineup better than the Marlins.

It's likely Reyes is out, I think the only way is if he's cleared via his test next week.

SS is up in the air still. I think if Reyes is cleared before opening day to get into shape, it's Cora and Reyes only misses a week or two. If his levels haven't regulated yet, it may be Tejada or someone else as Reyes will likely miss most or all of April.

You think that, but that's just a "familiarity=contempt" impluse.

Josh Johnson, missing time with a stomache virus, looking to be at least a little sketchy for opening day.

Thank you with my KTE to be posted tomorrow.

Are you changing the Mets lineup to show Reyes starting?

Between flash freezes, cabbies, and viral problems, it seems to be really hard to eat right in Florida.

Wtih Logan Morrison optioned down, it is now pretty clear that Gaby Sanchez has won the opening day nod at first base, with Jorge Cantu at third.

What remains to be seen is if Jose Reyes can sneak back in there for the Mets. I suspect he will.

  1. Coghlan, lf
  2. Maybin, cf
  3. Ramirez, ss
  4. Cantu, 3b
  5. Uggla, 2b
  6. Ross, rf
  7. Baker, c
  8. Sanchez, 1b
  9. Johnson, p
  1. Pagan, cf
  2. Castillo, 2b
  3. Reyes, ss
  4. Bay, lf
  5. Wright, 3b
  6. Murphy, 1b

Cody Ross and Brett Carroll look doubtful for opening day right now, so it looks like Jai Miller .(one career at-bat) or Bryan Petersen (zero career at-bats, went 1-4 yesterday against the Mets) could be in right. Emiliano Bonifacio (light-hitting centerfield backup) and Scott Cousins are also candidates.

  1. Coghlan, lf
  2. Maybin, cf
  3. Ramirez, ss
  4. Cantu, 3b
  5. Uggla, 2b
  6. Miller, rf
  7. Baker, c
  8. Sanchez, 1b
  9. Johnson, p
  1. Pagan, cf
  2. Castillo, 2b
  3. Wright, 3b
  4. Bay, lf
  5. Jacobs, 1b
  6. Francoeur, rf
  7. Barajas, c
  8. Cora, ss
  9. Santana, p

Well, I wasn't posting what should happen, but what was likely to happen. I don't think Castillo should bat second either.

But I don't think the announced "idea" was ever to bat Castillo leadoff --- even with Reyes hitting third --- but rather Pagan.

I know. In fact, I figured that you were posting the actual starting lineup that Manuel had already announced.

Happy 40th, Ben!

Ok, so the easy part is done ... now I have to work on wrapping this
up securely to survive a train and subway ride while properly chilled ...
