1) They're the best team in our division. Three years in a row now. And so they deserve it.

2) I like the way they put the team together. Stars/solid players from the farm system (Utley, Howard, Rollins, Madson, Hamels, Happ); smart acquisitions from the scrap heap (Victorino - Rule 5; Werth -- waiver claim; Feliz -- cheap-ass free agent); and the moment they needed one, the balls-out, go-for it trade (Lee). It is an organization to be admired and should have taught us something by now. The only way Omar gets Werth is by trading a promising prospect and taking on the worst catcher in the league for 2 years.

3) I think Victorino's a punk and Hamels and Myers are trash, but don't fool yourselves -- ALL teams have douchebags in their employ. They're all dumb jocks after all.

4) They made maybe the unsexiest managerial hire in recent history and shove it up America's ass every night. Give it up for Charlie Manuel!

5) Lived in the area for some time and understand the city itself has a chip on its shoulder regarding NYC, but there's also a lotta love for the Phightins beneath that. Which of us wouldn't still be coming in our pants even now if the Mets, 2 years in a row, dragged down their rival from behind in the final week of the season, not to mention mixing in a world championship? Damn.

6) I'll prolly go for the Dodgers if they advance to the NLCS, so it's not like I'm a hopeless phanboy.

though, those vest-y uniforms they choose to wear... maybe i should change my vote...
