]Those injury-riddled New York Bastard Mets (ed. note-- it's Deadspin; what do you expect?) have struggled recently, so this recent road trip could serve as a self-reflective haven for players, coaches, and media. Unless the Pittsburgh hotel they're staying in is having a furry convention.

Possibly my favorite part-- apart from the picture, natch-- is the DAVID WRIGHT COULD QUITE POSSIBLY BE FUCKING SOMEONE IN A BEAVER COSTUME RIGHT NOW tag down below.

Wayne and Howie, as they vamped between the tarp and the FAN coming back, described the hotel scene and seemed quite discomfited by it.

There was an episode about furries on CSI. Even though it was a murder case, it was very funny. Those folks are weird.

I remember that one!

Keith is saying that he got on the elevator in his hotel and there were a bunch of people in animal costumes. "The odor was horrific." Coming down from the 17th floor, he had to bail out on the 10th.

More disturbing than hilarious, I thought. Had never heard of Furries 'til then. At any rate, they must have kept Tim Redding from a good night's sleep.

The short lived Kelsey Grammar show Back to You, which was set in Pittsburgh, had an episode that included the Furries convention. Up until now, D-Dad and I thought they were making that up for the show....

It was a show on FOX that was killed by the writer's strike that year. Patrica Heaton co-starred. At the Emmys before it premiered Ray Ramano joked that Frasier had stolen his wife!

The show ran for only 17 episodes.

"Business and pleasure become intertwined when a good-looking anchor from a rival network asks Kelly out and Chuck fears that this may be a ploy to remove Kelly from WURG. Meanwhile, Marsh experiments with new sign-off lines and Gary has to cover an animal costume convention."

This makes it clear where furries rate among geeks[/url:1sxc99zu].

The first eight episodes are available on Hulu[/url:gvzliet7]. The one with the furries was episode nine.

Steve is right about the writer's strike killing the show. Even before it was canceled, the post-strike episodes weren't nearly as good as the first several.

He also made an ill-considered comment about meeting someone in the hotel who was stroking a pet beaver... a story which was almost definitely made up in order to be naughty while getting past the censors. If he's learned any lesson, it's that he needs to at least poorly disguise his off-color humor.

Naughty? Ill-considered? Off-color?

When did you join the convent, Number 6?

I kicked the habit years ago.

BTW, I didn't mean to suggest that I was offended. Just that our boy has apparently found himself a way to stay out of trouble while still being himself, for now. I think he's a bit of a lout, but I enjoy that sometimes.
