Wait. Why is Gardner "oh, they got him lunging," but Jeter does the same thing and it's a "fine piece of hitting"? Is Keith channeling Joe Morgan tonight?

The "captain's lunge" IS a fine piece of hitting, dinchaknow?

Frankie and Johnny were lovers.

You just want someone to crack an errant foul ball into Rudy's mug, don't you? That'd be classic.

And heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere comes Alex. Bring it.

Is striking out while a runner steals a base what some call a productive out.

Come on Frankie. Bear down and end this thing.

Okay, two things there.

First.

TWO HANDS, LUIS! TWO FUCKING HANDS!

And second...

Why are you banging Alex Rodriguez on the helmet, Yankees? He did shit in that at-bat. Shit. Fuckin' hell, Mets.

Keep walking Luis. You're fired.

One of the worst losses in Mets history. I don't think I'm overstating that.

I'm sick to my stomach over this.

David Wright cracks a mega-clutch double off the 'Greatest Closer Ever' and he is sitting in the losing clubhouse.

Alex Rodriguez gets beat like a bitch and pops up, and he gets a hero's welcome.

Fuck it all.

Tar and feathering is too good for him.
Draw and quarter? How does that work again?

Gotta give some share of the blame to K-Rod for walking the tying and winning run.

Which is why I didn't like putting the winning run on base.
I don't know if the idea was to pitch to Teixeira carefully all along and not care if he walked, or if they only came up with the semi-IW once it got to 3-0.
Either way, crazy shit like that - or even just a double in the gap - is the exact reason you don't do it.

oe: and if it's any consolation (and I know it's not) the Phils just lost in the 13th inning (that's 3 eXtra inning games in a row for them and 4 of their last 6) after tying it with one out in the 9th. They left the bases loaded.

I wish I had Grimm's amazing detachment working for me right now, instead of this gut punch feeling I have in my stomach.

I switched to Vs. which is showing "Eight Men Out." At least those guys were trying to lose.
