At least the fugliness was brief in terms of game time.

At least that was quick.

Like JCL said, the pitching is a concern, especially vs. these suckass teams.

But that stupid double play where Castillo, IMO, messed up,
is the kind of bad baseball we cannot afford to be playing this season.

Castillo is running back to first with his head down,
not even looking to see whats going on around him.

You have to be aware of what's going on around you.

I can even go back to the first when Beltran swung at a two strike pitch in the dirt and was K'd.
I watch a lot of Phils games, cuz I get em here, and every player on that team, in that situation,
would have immediately spun around to see if the catcher handled that pitch before they
would have considered that at bat over.

Thats a small thing but these things add up.
Any play can turn a game, or spark an inning.

Be aware of whats going on around you.
Keep your head in the game and the game situations.

If you're not gonna hit, and you're not gonna pitch, and you're not gonna run ... you might as well not do 'em all at the same time.

Wish I was in Washington to go bar-hopping with the CPF contingent.

You know what, Keith. I hope the Mets don't sleep well tonight. I hope someone busts some crap up in the clubhouse after the game. I hope someone goes off on the team to the beat reporters after the game. I hope we see more emotion from Beltran who went into the wall to catch a ball last inning. 1-4 against the Gnats and Pirats the last five games.

In my best Charles Barkley, "This team is terrible."

Ugh. When you put it that way it sounds so terrible. But we are trotting out Emil Brown and Wilson Valdez. Can we really expect much better?

Vs. those 2 teams?
Yes, we can.
In both the pitching and hitting departments.
Especially pitching wise.

Hope this is just a bad week that we can forget when Maine and Pelf get back in the groove.

The Gnats were on a pace to lose 119 games this year before today's win.

Maybe someone can remind the Washington GM of the old Branch Rickey line to Ralph Kiner, "We finished last with you and we can finish last without you".
Then they can whisper in that GM's ear a suggestion to trade Dunn to the Mets.
Can't hurt.
After all, doesn't he want to be the GM of a record - setting team?

That wasn't much value for my dollar.

I understand the emotion, but I just don't think that would do any good. Would it make Valdez and Emil hit? Will Maine pitch better next game because someone breaks a bat in the locker room? Will it make Reyes heal faster? Will it make Sheffield younger? Will it make StevieJeets stop posting?

Screw that. I want Nick Johnson too, and Cristian Guzman until Reyes gets back.

They can have Ryan Church back.

I don't want Nick Johnson. There's enough guys on the DL.

You're seeing kiddie films when the kid is still in utero! That's Type A parenting!
