No way we can? Or no way we should?

I'm pretty confident that we can.

That's such a fuck off to Castro, it's almost shocking.

Indeed. The guy had 2 hits today. I guess Jerry had Santos on his way to Cooperstown.

It's the top of the eighth you should be writing your congressmember about.

I guess I have to stand corrected by my statement that it will be Schnied/Castro once Brian is back.

Don't get this move at all. Didn't like the bunt in the 7th. Irish definitely started the Manuel thread at the right time.

Two out of three to these guys in our building with no Hanley. Disgusting.

Castro gets 2 hits today and is pinch hit for??? They find ways to lose and the manager makes awful decisions.

I hat baseball.

Manuel is fucking mystifying.

LOB, RISP, leadoff walks.

GAAAAAAAAH!

Bobby V was mystifying but successful

I didn't like pinch-hitting Santos for Castro. When you're down by one run with the bases loaded and one out left, it's all about getting on base and not making an out. It's about OBA. Castro has very good strike zone discipline; his OBA is typically 100 points higher than his BA. Santos has a terrible walk-rate. Castro is more likely to get on base than Santos, even when accounting for Castro's low BA.

We can gnash over Jerry's decision there all we want, but lets not forget the clusterf**k our third baseman was in the ninth (all homestand, in fact).

I wonder if Castro is in Manuel's doghouse to a much greater extent than we might be imagining? Maybe Castro started today only because of the day after night circumstance, but that Manuel is continually stewing about Castro and trying very hard to embarass him. Just an idea.

It's like the USA has been saying for 50 years: Castro will be overthrown any day now.

Citi Field: A nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to lose there.

One of the few highlights was running into Swan Swan H in the Promenade food court before first pitch. It didn't take long for us to exhume the ghosts of Glavine and Stone, to name two ex-Braves. Man, we Mets fans are cheery people.

ESPN, the NY Times, all pinning this loss on Putz and the pen for their headlines.

Forget about the 14 Mets left on base. Crikey.

Well, I'm a business person, and my Mom thinks I'm special, so I decided to take a vacation day and watch Santana shut down the Marlins, which he pretty much did. Wasn't enough, obviously.

I may cut managers more slack than just about anyone, but I don't feel like Manuel has put the players in the best position to be successful. Some of it is hard to put my finger on, but I have a feeling that the players sit on the bench and have no idea what's going to happen next. The Santos move was a stunner. I was sitting in 409, behind first, and I was expecting Delgado, or Rusty Staub, or somebody, but the longer the wait I began to realize that Santos was probably coming in from the bullpen. And, to quote Groucho, "Why, I'll never know."

I agree with an earlier post, meeting G-Fafif was one of the high points of the day. I recognized him from the book and the teevee, but we'd never met before. I think he's still getting used to being recognized.

A Shake Shack burger and shake, Box Frites fries, and conversation with the guy who wrote the book on being a Mets Fan - it was mostly downhill from there.

I didn't see any of the game and I'm not watching it tonight.

I caught the last half of the ninth in the car when Castro was hit for and I
thought to myself, "well, he's gone." Cohen made some kind of mention that
it was a casino type move and I thought if this guy comes through god knows
that was freakin' brilliant and if not he's gonna look like doo doo.

Isn't Castro pretty much toast after the next roster move. I've been busy and
I don't read everything here ... but there seems to be a lot of off anger swirling
about already this young season. Ya'll are gonna start getting hives.
