Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Lindstrom is a Ugly American pussy who deserved his rotator cuff injury for throwing at a Dutch minor leaguer in an exhibition tournament.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Mexico got knocked out by Cuba last night, so Oliver Perez, please get yourself on the next flight back to Port St. Lucie immediately.

Guest holychicken Guests Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Players who are playing the WBC should probably start their spring training a bit early if everyone is so paranoid about them getting injured. The fans and many of the players seem to be pumped for this thing so I believe it is here to stay. Soccer deals with it when it comes to the World Cup, which is the most popular sporting event in the world (IIRC), so I believe that the fans of the local teams are going to have to suck it up and face the fact that the WBC is not going anywhere in the foreseeable future. So instead of fighting to have them not play, start fighting for them to prepare for the tourney.

I wish we still had this jerk?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Please stop in the booth with the excuses about the USA roster....
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Holy crap!I mean, I thought I'd seen Jeter do everything, but the way he willed that out of Wright. I mean, it's like he wouldn't have accepted less.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Okay, all WBC bellyaching aside, that was a ballgame y media. Now give us our Carloses back.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 That was exciting....I mean I didn't really care about this tourney but that game was worth watching.....
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 And Gary Thorne is doing the Japan-Korea game. It's the Classic that keeps giving.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Didn't I just hear Gary do a hockey game on Versus?
Guest holychicken Guests Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Woot! Wright gets the walk off hit. Great ending to a good game. We get a bunch of players back (for you WBC haters), US advances and Wright comes up big.Of course, tomorrow's story won't include Jeter's misplay in the 9th and the fact that he was the only US player to make an out in the 9th.
Guest Number 6 Guests Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Awesome game, with especially incredible at-bats in the 9th by Victorino and Roberts. It's a shame that so few people were there to see it.If you watch the celebration closely, Kevin Youkilis tries to run with David Wright's head like it's a football, and ends up with only his helmet. It's easy to see why Youk is so popular.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 My only thought was "don't hurt him!"Thank you, David...now:CarlosCarlosPedroAlexNelsonget back to Port St. Lucie NOW!!!--- If Redding starts the year on the DL, perhaps Figueroa has an outside chance at making the roster. 7.1 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 6 K, 3 BB. Not too shabby.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Also notable in today's game: Beltran robs a home run from McCann that was going over the CF wall. MLB Network announcers go on about what a great catch it was (and it was) but proceed to talk about how it'd go on the all-WBC highlight reel.I think to myself -- I'm not sure that even goes on the all-Beltran highlight reel.
duan Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 about the crowds - why in the name of jesus were they playing the games in Miami which has proven that it doesn't get excited about baseball.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 It's one of life's mysteries. Here's another: Lady Caca? You might as well bill yourself as Madame Poopshit.

They were fantastic.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 That ninth inning rally featured five guys reaching and only one guy making an out.Guess.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Jeter made the out......as hard as that is to believe...IIRC he fluffed it with the bases juiced earlier in the game.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Brian Roberts said it all right here....]"I heard David Wright's face was in the dirt and every Met fan in the world was panicking."
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 You can still see where it's tender on the side of his face. It seemed more raw during the celebration.Meanwhile, Potsie is a little overboard with with the post-game arm-care. Who is he --- Hellboy?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Great pictures , if that guy didn't have an arm injury surely he wold after lugging that thing around.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I watched the highlights on ESPN this morning... I watched the first two innings last night but then got distracted by chores, parenting, etc.So, my reaction is -- yay. They won. Whoopity. Funny to see them piling up in front of, what, 11k fans?I like the fact that Putz (IP, 0 ER, 2K), Wright (game winning hit), Beltran (catch) and Delgado (dinger) all seem to have acquitted themselves well -- but that's a Mets fan talking. So who do we have left that's playing? K-Rod, Wright, Putz? Is that it now?
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Fman, why do you hate America so?

Leaders make the players around them better. He could have gotten the game winning hit, but he's not a selfish player. He knew that making an out there would give someone else the opportunity to win that game.Come on, man. Respect.
