Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I think, as citizens of the United States of America, we don't need a victory in a baseball tournament to give us pride. I can understand a smaller country getting a thrill out of knocking off baseball powerhouses like the USA or Japan. Me, I don't find myself having any rooting interest in the US for the WBC or the Olympics.Oh, and the reason FMan hates America: Because he hates freedom! Isn't that why everyone hates America?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 The highlights I saw this morning included Jeter failing to reach a ground ball in the 9th that made it a 2 run lead in the first place.

That doesn't mean I don't want them to win.And we aren't powerhouses unless we win. . .which we didn't do last time.It is a sporting event and, like all sporting events, it is entertainment. Being a United Statesian, I feel obligated to root for them. When it comes to entertainment value, the WBC >>>> Spring Training. That's for damn sure. Has anyone ever rushed the field after a game winning hit in a spring training game?
