Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 wasnt Livesley the scout that recommended the Kazmir trade?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Yup.Had previously been with the D-Rays and loved Zambrano from back then.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Probably not a coincidence that Victor Zambrano spent the second half of 2008 scratching around the Yankees' system.
Guest attgig Guests Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Craig Brazell invited to Orioles camp
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 The Dodgers appear to be stocking up on former Mets: Guillermo Mota and Kris Benson.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Craig Brazell will make an excellent O. He even spent all that time in Omaha with an O on his cap.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Edgardo Alfonzo: Man of IntrigueThird baseman Edgardo Alfonzo, who last played in the majors in 2006, is intriguing clubs with his performance in the Venezuelan Winter League. Alfonzo, 35, has a batting average/on-base/slugging line of .322/.383/.483, with eight home runs and 42 RBIs in 60 games. He also lost weight, and could make a worthwhile investment on a minor-league deal, starting at Class AAA and working back to the majors.http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9085812/Tight-on-money,-Braves-slow-search-for-a-hitter?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=49
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I'd love to see him shuffle off to Buffalo and put pressure on Castillo from below.
Guest attgig Guests Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I doubt he'd be able to play 2b anymore. He may be able to be some help for Delgado at 1b, as a righty option.http://www.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Edgardo%20Alfonzo&pos=3B&sid=l135&t=p_pbp&pid=110135The hat looks like he's playing for the Tides.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I felt bad seeing him play for the Ducks last year. I'm not sure he'd be any more of an adventure defensively at second than the guy we currently have there. If his back is OK, he's worth a minor league deal and a shot to be the 25th man.
duan Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 i still can't believe I was so wrong. I suggested that Edgardo Alfonso get "Posada Money" at the time. 1-0 to steve phillips (if he were GM who let him go)
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Bleeping Timo Perez, forever breaking into his trot...DETROIT -- Detroit signed outfielder Timo Perez to a minor league contract and invited him to major league spring training. Perez hit .302 with 13 home runs and 63 RBIs last year for Triple-A Toledo.Seven on the 40-man roster agreed to 2009 contracts: pitchers Kyle Bloom, Alfredo Figaro, Chris Lambert and Zach Simons; catcher Dusty Ryan; infielder Michael Hollimon; and outfielder Casper
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I'm guessing Timo is one of the top AAA players of the last 20 years.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 He's got a little sliding dirt on his bottom.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Tyler Yates signs a one-year deal as a Pirate. Yates sounds like a good example of a Pirate name.

Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Brian Bannister, one year deal with Royals with Cheese.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 They're paying him in cheese? Does the collective bargaining agreement allow that?
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 its government cheese... part of the stimulus package.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I admire Alfonzo's desire to keep playing{still only 35) , hard to believe that his last season with the Mets was 2002.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 On the final day of the 2008 season, Scott Schoeneweis (homer to Helms) had a twin, and his name was Luis Ayala (homer to Uggla). Now Luis Ayala is a Twin.Spooky!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 It's about time a Met free agent got signed. Our 2008 team has been untouchable in the offseason marketplace.
