Also the Phils got C Ronny Paulino from Pittsburgh for a minor leaguer.

He was doomed to be a Yankee the minute the Mets dealt him. Somehow, I knew. I think we all did.

Melky was a whole lot of hype , Kerry Wood to Cleveland on a two year deal for $20 million.

Rosenthal has a load of stuff here , Texeria apparently very close to a huge deal with Boston.

i'm kinda sad about this, Cameron's was an easy guy to like, even if he was prone to using amphetamines.

Yeah, Cabrera sucked ass. I'm pretty sure history will eventually reveal that his proven suckiness vs. Gomez' theoretical goodness was the real thing that prevented the MFYs from trading for Santana. They spun it to say they loved Ian Kennedy -- right.

Lupica in the Snooze today gets the back page lambasting the MFYs for not getting Santana btw. Shut up, Mike.

="Ken Rosenthal":3oxcrs7o]The Mike Cameron trade is not done and may not get done.

The Yankees will need to have a change of heart for it to happen, one source familiar with the discussion said.

The Brewers are asking for a second player in addition to Melky Cabrera. The Yankees want the Brewers to pay a portion of Cameron's $10 million salary.

Milwaukee is not inclined to fulfill that request at a time when the Yankees are on the verge of paying over $200 million for pitchers CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett.

The New York Post first reported the possibility of a Cameron-Cabrera swap on Nov. 6 from the GM Meetings and reported Thursday that the deal was "close."

Cameron could make the transition to New York easier for CC Sabathia who the Yankees reached an agreement with Wednesday. Cameron played with the Mets from 2004-2005, so he knows the city. He quickly became Sabathia's pal in Milwaukee after the Brewers obtained him last July from the Indians.[/quote:3oxcrs7o]

This is the first time I've ever cheered for the Brewers in my life, I think. Stick it up Cashman's bony white ass! Make him pay... and pay.

So they lure Sabathia away from Milwaukee, and then ask the Brewers for money?

Yeesh!

I second that yeesh! The Yankees really have to be kidding. Especially since they'd be getting a solid major-league centerfielder for a solid AAA one.

For some reason, that's still not obvious to everybody. Gomez is better than Cabrera on defense alone, even if he never hits much at this level. So you'd have to think that Hughes or Kennedy alone was worth significantly more than the rest of the Mets' package (the Yankees' offers never included both of them) to think that the Twins passed on the better offer. Then again, while Hughes and Kennedy lost some luster last year, at least their stock didn't plummet to oblivion like Deolis Guerra's seems to have.

Ronny Paulino hit a long home run off Feliciano in 2006. I extrapolated that to mean he's been a Met-killer on the order of Expo Endy, but no, actually, it's the only one he blasted.

It's still going, however.

Cameron-Cabrera talks off
It sounds as though the Yankees will not be getting Mike Cameron to play centerfield next year. That could change, of course, but I just got off the phone with Brewers GM Doug Melvin. He said: "Nothing new. At this point, I don't anticipate it's something that we would (do). ... I haven't talked to Brian (Cashman) since last week."
Melvin said they had originally looked at moving Cameron to gain some flexibility on the pitching front but that is no longer such a need. Said Melvin: "I like Mike Cameron a lot. He means a lot in our clubhouse. He's a very positive presence. He's a good player. He's played on a lot of playoff teams -- maybe more than anybody. He's got a lot of intangibles. (A trade is) not something that we're pushing at this time."
The Yankees obviously aren't pushing it either, given that Cashman and Melvin haven't spoken since leaving Las Vegas last week.
