Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 The Mets sure are facing a lot of left-handed starters lately, aren't they? I just hope it doesn't cause Daniel Murphy to cool off. He's been seeing a lot of bench time lately.Hopefully they'll knock Hampton all around the ballpark today. This game really looks like a "should win."
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I can't remember the last time I had as much start-to-start confidence in a Met starting pitcher as I do in Santana now. He's almost automatic with 7 quality innings.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Pretty big game tonight. It would do a lot for the psyche to win tonight, with 17 games left to play.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 Revised lineup, above.
Guest KC Guests Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Showing replay of a nice sit down hosted by Darling with Seaver and Santana. It's nice to see these three generation Mets chewing the fat if you get a chanceto watch it or if you're out of town maybe SNY website has or will have a link.Speaking of fat, just how fat has Seaver gotten?
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I haven't heard anything yet.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Keith and Gary are killing time in the booth.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 They're taking calls in the booth.
Guest cooby Guests Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Ah, so it's raining there too....
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Hah, actually no, just overcast here. But the radar doesn't look promising.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 There are people with umbrellas sitting in the field level seats. Earlier everyone was in the causeways. I'm hoping that it's a sign that there's a gap in the rain in NY.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 The tarp is still on the field.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 They just announced at Shea that tonight's game is postponed and will be made up tomorrow night as a separate admission doubleheader.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 SNY showed the Piazza home run from September 21 and Keith and Gary start talking about 9/11 in general baseball terms when Keith says that that day has a special place in his house , his wife Kai lost her husband that day , he was with Cantor Fitzgerald.I never knew that.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I take it back - it's a single admission doubleheader tomorrow. Only people with tickets for Saturday's game will be admitted to tomorrow's doubleheader.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 We've only had Mets baseball for 4 of the last 9 days.
Guest cooby Guests Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 It's okay. I'm sitting here working on a jigsaw puzzle. Join me...
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Look at us. We usually don't get to page 2 on a Friday until the 5th inning or so.The Mets are like heroin. I need a fix.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Rainouts suck.Back-to-back doubleheaders and 6-7 hours of continuous Mets baseball is good though.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Yeah but, with no more regularly scheduled off days, the pitching staff will be taxed, even with the September callups. Might see Niese get his second start, and another go-round for Knight.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I'd bet on Figueroa getting that extra start instead of Knight.Niese getting a start is already a given.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 As part of my go to every game until Shea dies or it kills me program, I sat there with no genuine hope of playing until it was called. They showed "Look Who's No. 1" and "A Year to Remember". Then they slapped a logo on DiamondVision because there is an official sponsor of rain delays at Shea, no kidding.According to the scoreboard, both Robinson Cancel and Johan Santana were going to catch. I was looking forward to some awesome plays at the plate.
