Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 We all know that there have been games when the Mets have inexplicably been stymied by a rookie pitcher that we've ever heard of. (Some will say that that's a particular Mets jinx, but I'm not prepared to jump to that conclusion.)How nice would it be if today was one of those days for the Brewers?Tonight Jon Niese becomes the 845th Met. (If all the September call-ups see action, I think the count will advance to 848. That is, if I'm not overlooking anyone.)Let's hope he puts up 5 or 6 Schaefer points tonight.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Nice to see that Beltran is able to play.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Hopefully it's not out of necessity. Both of our other two optios in CF (Endy, Church) are LH hitters.

(I'll say it was Rincon.)That leaves the Mets big off-season acquisition, whoever he may be, poised to be the 850th Met.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Wasn't it someone here that recently posted something about the Mets actually faring relatively well against rookie pitchers?I think the problem is that we assume we are going to molest them so any non-inappropriate touching sticks out in our minds.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 We are the Knights who say Niese.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Speaking of Knights, did Brandon get into a second game, or is he capable of a Chan Ho Park one-and-done distinction?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Just that one game so far.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Pleased to meet you, Meat.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 well, his era can only get better!
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 OK, good strategy, walk everybody to get the lefty.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Got the ERA down below infinity
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 A bit hairy, but not too bad overall.
Methead Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Nice job getting out of that jam there. Sweet curveball, doesn't look like there's a whole lot of movement on the fastball.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Let's upgrade Tatis's home church to a cathedral. Get the man to stay motivated.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Tatis!!! Tell you what, he's been our least-expected most valueable player. I'm not sure what the criteria to get the Comeback Player of the Year Award is, but he's deserving.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 No bunt opportunity for Neise (for my own selfish pool reasons, I cared)

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 The Media Guide says that Niese is 6-4. No way!

Good question, though. Hmmmm.

His start was pretty much an emergency, and was sent packing the next day.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Ump! Get out of the way when Carlos crosses home!

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Its a shame GameDay's batters don't match the actual player. Looking at the scrawny batter on the screen, and realizing Fielder is up is pretty funny.
