Dear AG/DC,

New York Mets Pitcher John Maine will be making a guest appearance on upcoming episodes of math mystery cartoon Cyberchase. Premiering in April on PBS KIDS GO!, Cyberchase takes young viewers out to play with new Math & Sports initiative.

Or checked out the score...and considered the math inherent to a game? Sports are rich with opportunities to use numbers, spot patterns, and develop strategies, and kids love sports. With this exciting connection in mind, CYBERCHASE�s new initiative challenges kids to get active with math!


CYBERCHASE�s Math & Sports, a multi-faceted project that will engage children on air, online and on the playing field in communities nationwide, kicks off April 7 on PBS KIDS GO!sm (check local listings). The Math & Sports initiative features five shows, including four new episodes, as well as an interactive Web game that gives kids the chance to challenge Hacker in the �CyberOlympics� at http://www.pbskidsgo.org/cyberchase.

Looks like this will be a new version of the show, though... so I'm sure it's not going to be quite the same thing.

m.e.t.b.o.t. always considers the mathematics inherent to the game of baseball; however, m.e.t.b.o.t. is not currently programmed to recognize geometric patterns. m.e.t.b.o.t. also is not currently programmed to recognize tactical and strategic diagramming. m.e.t.b.o.t. does not sufficiently incorporate visual data, as m.e.t.b.o.t.'s eyes are painted on, and therefore lack any optical sensors.

while m.e.t.b.o.t. is still an immature prototype and is therefore in the target demographic of the subject program, m.e.t.b.o.t. has assessed the program to be of little specific value until such time as m.e.t.b.o.t. can be overhauled and reprogrammed to utilize non-numeric input.
