Crowd was terrible today. Lots of shameful behavior, early exists, inappropriate booing (ie. booing Mota after 2 scoreless innings).

Mets declined to take the opportunity anywhere during or after the game to thank the fans for the 3,850,000 tickets sold (and consequently millions of dollars made by the Mets) this year. Putting up the "get home safe" graphic only and not even bothering to thank the fans was a major oversight. Some token thanks was necessary.

I agree, but this was not 1985 or 1987. This probably will go down as the most hated season in Met history. It would seem silly for them to do any of the usual Fan Appreciation Day festivities at Shea.

They do have Thanks on Mets.com though.

And I wasn't around then, but how were the late seventies and early eighties? I can't imagine it was fun when the managerial genius Joe Torre was around.

the art howe years sucked worse than this one. the pre-vee years sucked worse than this one.

and 88 left a more bitter taste of what could've been.

and maybe i'm alone here, but yesterday redeemed this season for me. that was a hell of a thrill, and to even enter into this day with a chance, from where they were two days ago, was thrilling.

this team has a lot of restructuring and mirror-looking and maturing and manning up, but i don't hate it one bit, tho it frustrates the hell out of me.

so maybe that's your word. frustrating.

but not hated.

He didn't quite have the team he has had during his Yankee run.

I was around during the late 70's (even tho I cold shoulder'd em for a few years when they traded Seaver) and the early 80's.
Thats one reason I can temper this from a personal perspective.

When you become a diehard fan of a mediocre (or suckass) team, and you decide you are theirs and they are yours, all else that will happen throughout your experience with that team will be acceptable.
It becomes like life, with its ups and downs. You deal with it.
Im not saying you won't hate or boo or be unhappy with this team at times. But you will be loyal.
