Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 He fielded the ball about 30 feet off of first. Rather than throw to the pitcher covering, he ran the ball over there to make Floyd run it out.So, we win at home.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I nominate the Cardinals to be our new component of Triple Happiness computation.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Any chance we can get Buckner and Schiraldi added to the Cardinals roster for tomorrow night's game?
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 We should have had Lastings on the roster instead of Andy Hernandy.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Somebody needs to pound a fastball into Albert's backside. This is where I miss Duaner especially. Pedro would've done it too.
Guest cleonjones11 Guests Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Who are our savior pitchers for the next 1 or 2 games?
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 For better or worse, John Maine and TBD.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Judging from this, the game only lasted 15 minutes after I went to bed. That last inning must have been lame.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 P.S. My whale came out looking like shit.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I have a sting ray and a shark. The whale? Not so much.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Edgy - "He fielded the ball about 30 feet off of first. Rather than throw to the pitcher covering, he ran the ball over there to make Floyd run it out."I'm not sure his intent was to make Floyd run it out. I think he avoided a possible poor exchange on a toss to the pitcher covering since he could . It was quite unusual to see a first baseman take it himself when so far from the bag. Still, it would have served Pujols right if he had tweaked his sore hamstring while making the play. The play illustrated that Cliffie is in no way prepared to play a vital role in this series. He can hardly walk, let alone run.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 If he can swing, find a place for him to swing. If only to chase a righthanded reliever for a lefty, and then bring in Franco, we've got to use everybody we got.

Guest cooby Guests Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I have always hated the Cardinals, but especially since 2000. I'd be very happy with a Cardinals loss every day

How much happiness can we get from a Cardinals' regular season loss if it doesn't come from the Mets?I agree, I think since the Cards left the NL East there have been varing degrees of hatred onto the Cards from "Met Nation" Hell I hate the Dodgers, Yankees, Phillies, Marlins, Braves and Nationals, and have a brotherly hatred of the Astros, but other than that I really don't have any qualms about rooting another NL team in the WS (Well Braves are my thrid team behind the Reds but that was when they were in the NL West) and that includes the Cards, Cubs (HA!) and Pirates. I think that sort of inter-division rivalry kind of dissapates anyway unless its so close and so "intertwined" like Sox-Yanks and Dodgers-Giants that it comes and goes.I wouldn't be surprised if the two teams continue their course that younger Met fans would be surprised to know that there was a heated Met-Brave rivalry the way people who aren't old enough probably don't know the heat between the Mets and Cards in the 80'sThat being said, I'm getting to a point where shouldn't a Met win be happiness enough during the regular year and TH itself should go the way of TC
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 We had a rivalry with them in the '80s. We faced them in the 2000 NLCS. This NLCS has been filled with emotion. They've disrespected our team. Pujols has turned out to be a schmuck. Spiezio's stupid red tuft of facial hair has inspired a ridiculous practice of Cardinals fans taping small red pieces of paper on their chins. Eckstein has annoyed me. Molina has pissed me off. La Russa thinks he knows everything. In short, the Cardinals have made me very angry. Even though they're not in our division anymore, I think they can assume the spot left open by the Braves as the third component of Triple Happiness.

Orel Hershiser was a Met for crying out loud!If you feel that they can, then thats your personal thing. To me its the Yankees loss, Phillies loss, Mets win right now
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I'm personally feeling TH is unecessary going forward. The Yankees, Braves, Phillies (and hopefully the Cardinals) are all teams the Mets performed better than. I no longer have the sense of looking up and taking joy in our rivals loss now that the Mets are better than them.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 from now on, every day is tripple happiness. (cos it'd be dumb to have an NL team outside our division in there with the yankees)
