Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 The game will obviously be made up on Friday - although they've yet to announce the start time. What they DID announce is that Game 1 tickets will be honored on Friday, and those w/Game 2 tickets who were set to attend Thursday's game will still do so as planned.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Rats. Well at least there's an ALCS game.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 At least it gives Cliffy an extra day of rest.
Guest ABG Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 So now Carpenter can go in Game 2, and for Glavine to come back in Game 5 he'll have to do so on short rest.Grand.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I'm behind the loge section waiting.I've got beer.Where is everybody?Hello...?
Guest vtmet Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 The series should have started yesterday, now the Tigers will have 2 wins before the Mets series even starts...Tigers will be probably waiting around getting rested for 3 or 4 days before the NL is determined...
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 See you Friday night...maybe...=
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 They should have listened to what I said yesterday afternoon:]The thought of a rainout on Wednesday is worrisome. The makeup game would probably be on Friday afternoon, with the series resuming as scheduled in St. Louis on Saturday. That would leave the Mets (and Cards, of course) playing on five consecutive days. Which means they'd either need a fifth starter or they'd have to send Glavine on three days rest in Game 5. I'd probably go with Glavine on three days. The alternative would be Darren Oliver making his first start of the year? Or do the Mets replace Ring on the roster with Williams tomorrow morning if the weather forecast looks like rain is likely?

Guest KC Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Had a nice heart attack meal at Virgil's with KB and then hung out some more there watching the rain and endless ESPN loop of plane crash newsand headed on out ... only to find out about five stops out to turn back. Ittook me ten minutes to remember that the Queensboro Plaza station hastwo stories - duh, the trains are going the wrong way?Is it really Friday? That's too cool for me, hope it doesn't mess anyone else up.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I'd definitely prefer an evening start, otherwise I'm gonna get sick!
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 ]Ive had a hectic day/evening here-with one eye and ear on the TV , but I think I heard that right......You heard that right. La Russa said he'd think about it more, but will likely keep the order in tact, and said he likes the idea of having Carpenter go a potential Game 7. I see his point, but he's putting a lot of faith in the other stiffs that they can even get to a Game 7. I was very happy to hear this news.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 You gotta love LaGenius. Maybe he'll give Ankiel another shot while he's at it.

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I'm hoping for a 4 p.m. start on Friday. I'm working from home anyway, and I can just knock off an hour or so early.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 So what exactly is causing them to be still unsure of the time of Friday's start?Choose a frickin time and announce it!!
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Frayed Knot wrote:So what exactly is causing them to be still unsure of the time of Friday's start?Choose a frickin time and announce it!!No shit! If I have to ask for time off, I need to do it ASAP! I'm really nervous that I won't be able too. Half our office is out on Friday and I'm thinking that will make my boss less inclined to approve anything.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Any healin' time for Rolen is also applicable to Cliffy's tendon and Beltran's ab.Lo Duca's thumb and maybe Hernandez's calf, while I'm at it. Maybe.Maybe Juan Padilla can take advantage of the off day to get in game shape.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Well, the delay in the start of the NLCS won't have any impact on Orlando Hernandez unless there are still more rainouts to come, and enough of them to postpone the start of the World Series. It's almost 8 o'clock on Thursday morning, and Friday's game time is still TBD. Unbelievable. Yesterday afternoon, the network suits and the MLB suits and the Madison Avenue suits should have scheduled a conference call and said, "If tonight's game in New York is postponed, what time Friday should we play?" And then when the game was called, they could have made the annoucement immediately. I'm going to be able to be in front of my TV regardless. But this shows a complete disregard for ticket holders who may need time to juggle their schedule.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 You know it's up to FOX, not MLB, don't you?
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Yeah, I know. But I figured they'd have MLB in on the call as a courtesy.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 They'll be the face making the call, FOX will be the head.
