stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Author Posted July 31, 2006 Forget what I said about Lidge, GET HIM AND OSWALT!
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Heilman ain't going nowhere now.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 shitfuckhow is Henry Owens doing down on the farm?
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 fuckshit. This is terrible timing. If Omar panics, we're going to get raped by the other GMs.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Shocker. Damn. Sounds like something that could threaten his career, in addition to our season. Hello, other shoe.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I SWEAR NO MORE FUCKING BILLY JOEL IN THE IGT
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Glavine, Sanchez ... what did we do to piss off the Cabbies' union?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I see Solomon Torres in our future.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Unreal. Hope Duaner had his seat belt on.I'm getting flashbacks to Bobby Ojeda and a hedge trimmer.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Heilman needs to pony up and regain his dominance. Bringing Owens up is a pretty good idea. Maybe we can trade Bell for someone like Robo in a salary dump? It's not the end of the world, but our bullpen is definitely no longer "killer."

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Did you read the update to that article?]And Minaya has reportedly found a replacement. According to SI.com, the Mets have traded outfielder Xavier Nady to the Pirates for reliever Roberto Hernandez and left-hander Oliver Perez.

Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I think my wife was driving the cab. She was worried she'd lose me to Duaner. Now I need surgery too.Surgery for a broken heart!Jeezus, that's awful news.

Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Meanwhile, I'm trying to absorb this news. Wow - what a shame! Sanchez had my vote for being the Mets' biggest pleasant surprise this season. It's a shame to see him gone for the season.I hope to see him back strong next season. Wow!
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Goddammit. How about, no Met ever takes a taxicab anywhere for the rest of my life?
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Rotblatt wrote:Maybe we can trade Bell for someone like Robo in a salary dump? You see, this is the trade we should have made. Why the hell do you give up Nady for a 42 (43?) year old middle reliever? I know Nady's not an All-Star or anything but come on.GMs shouldn't panic.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I agree. I can't see why Nady had to be included in this trade.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Because of Perez. He's still 25, and left-handed, so there's a premium there. I know he's not Sandy Koufax, but he does still qualify as a prospect, sorta.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 That's not worth Nady to me, unless Omar knew of another GM who was hot to get Perez, and had a followup trade in place. And I guess that may yet happen. But I'd rather have Nady and Bell and Owens and whoever than Roberto Hernandez and Oliver Perez.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Apparently the follow-up trade is done.So is Nady worth Robo and half of Linebrink?Yeah, I don't think so either.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Really, then I'm not reading in the right order.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 To me- this is devistating news. A major bump in our road. And if it wasnt for this accident, the Nady trade doesnt happen--It was shocking enough to hear of the accident, but then to hear Nady goes to Pittsburg for the quick fix- ugh.If Hernandez can give us what he did in 2005 - that would be a good thing.Maybe he can........ And Perez was one of the best new young arms to come up afew seasons ago, but he has gone down hill from there, for reasons no one can seem to figure out. Maybe Peterson figures it out.
