What's the MLB single season record? I was going to start a thread to track it, but figured I'd get yelled at for starting too early.

The single-season record is 36, held by John Owen "Chief" Wilson.

I think this was one of the answers to my grilling at Cooperstown a few summers ago. It may have been the answer to the final question.

Man, did Craig and Hook get raked in 1962? Two-thirds of the Met all-time top three in HRs given up from that first season.

IIRC, Craig gave up four of them to Roy Sievers of the Phillies. Two of them were the only runs he surrendered in 1-0 losses and the last one (toward the end of the season) was in extra innings. Youda' thought that a "veteran" like Craig would have known about pitching around a guy who killed him.
