Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Even knowing that wins are a crappy statistic, and Traxxxx ranks in the top 10, overcoming that healthy gap (one very good season or two OK ones) between 10 and 8 is what future Met hurlers gotta do to be among the true category greats IMO.As much as he's accomplished, Traxy ain't gonna smell the top 8.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 The way Trax is going now (no guarantee that he can maintain that, but he's surprised me a half dozen times before), he's only a one year extension away from David Cone, where the real money is.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I'm awfu;lly pessimistic he gets to 80 wins. I'd put the odds at 15:1
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 My guess would be Trachsel or Glavine comes back next year. Not both.

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Not hard to get into the Mets top ten in saves, is it?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I wonder if Doug Sisk got some sort of auto-generated notification when he fell from the top ten.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Your tense is wrong... Doug's still hanging in there, until Wagner saves 9 more games.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Actually Elster and me should be generating the notifications. You want to get Fonzie motivated to hit his way back in the bigs, send him a postcard every time somebody knocks him down the a list.

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Is Reyes really the second best bunter in the league? How often does he bunt?
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I think I'd say that Endy is the best bunter on the Mets.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Not only is the 'Best Bunter' title generous (Eckstein is MUCH better) but so is his inclusion on the best defensive list. I think he's got the potential to be there but he isn't yet. Everett better IMO, so is Jack Wilson and maybe some others.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Beltran, the active career leader in sb%, isn't on the 'best baserunner' list?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 ="Elster88"]Is Reyes really the second best bunter in the league? How often does he bunt?Maybe he's the best bunter for hits. But that also tends to be a function of speed.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Yup, that's what I was going for.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 That list up there is ^ is wack. Remember when the Mets were in fourth or fifth place and those lists were disproportionately packed with players from first-place teams. This is payback.Secondly, Steve Trachsel is now tied for the team lead in wins, and is one off the league pace, with a big pack currently bunched at 12-13 wins.
