Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Maybe 8.Really, on a track to break the 44-year-old team's scoring record and extend it by 13.4% and do it in season that began with his deathwatch on this board and do it in a season in which his teammate is also on a track to break the record.Spectacular.adj. Of the nature of a spectacle; impressive or sensational.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 This is getting crazy. A few days playing on a rug and Jose has now tied for both the third tripliest season in Met history, and the third tripliest career in Met history. He started the season tenth on the team's all-time list and is now third, and is actually making a run for second.Second. Second all-time. He probably won't make it, but then again he might. And he just turned 23 two weeks ago.Triples in a Met Career1) Mookie Wilson: 62 2) Bud Harrelson: 45 Jos Reyes Projected to End of Season: 44.89T3) Cleon Jones: 33 T3) Jos Reyes: 335) Steve Henderson: 31 6) Darryl Strawberry: 30 7) Lance Johnson: 27 8) Doug Flynn: 26 9) Ed Kranepool: 25 =blue]Jos Reyes at Start of Season: 2310) Lee Mazzilli 22Triples in a Met Season=orange]Jose Reyes, Projected to End of 2006: 21.891) Lance Johnson,1996: 21 2) Jos Reyes, 2005: 17 T3) Mookie Wilson, 1984: 10T3)Jose Reyes, 2006: 10T5) Charlie Neal: 1962: 9T5) Steve Henderson, 1978: 9T5) Frank Taveras, 1979: 9T5) Mookie Wilson, 1982: 9T9) Joe Christopher, 1964: 8T9) Bud Harrelson, 1970: 8T9) Cleon Jones, 1970: 8T9) Doug Flynn, 1978: 8T9) Len Randle, 1978: 8T9) Steve Henderson, 1979: 8T9) Doug Flynn, 1980: 8T9) Steve Henderson, 1980: 8T9) Joel Youngblood, 1980: 8T9) Mookie Wilson, 1981: 8T9) Mookie Wilson, 1985: 8T9) Vince Coleman, 1993: 8Triples in a Major League Season1) Chief Wilson: 36 (1912) T2) Dave Orr: 31 (1886)T2) Heinie Reitz: 31 (1894) 4) Perry Werden: 29 (1893) 5) Harry Davis: 28 (1897)T6) George Davis: 27 (1893)T6) Sam Thompson: 27 (1894) T6) Jimmy Williams: 27 (1899) T6) Sam Crawford: 26 (1914) T6) Kiki Cuyler: 26 (1925) T6) Joe Jackson: 26 (1912) T6) John Reilly: 26 (1890)T6) George Treadway: 26 (1894) T14) Roger Connor: 25 (1894) T14) Sam Crawford: 25 (1903)T14) Larry Doyle: 25 (1911)T14) Buck Freeman: 25 (1899)T14) Tom Long: 25 (1915)T19) Ty Cobb: 24 (1911) T19) Ty Cobb: 24 (1917)T19) Ed McKean: 24 (1893)T22) Dan Brouthers: 23 (1894)T22) Ty Cobb: 23 (1912)T22) Earle Combs: 23 (1927)T22) Adam Comorosky: 23 (1930) T22) Sam Crawford: 23 (1913) T22) Nap Lajoie: 23 (1897)T22) Dale Mitchell: 23 (1949) T22) Elmer Smith: 23 (1893) T22) Harry Stovey: 23 (1884)T22) Sam Thompson: 23 (1887) T32) John Anderson: 22 (1898) T32) Jake Beckley: 22 (1890) T32) Bill Bradley: 22 (1903) T32) Earle Combs: 22 (1930) T32) Roger Connor: 22 (1887) T32) Sam Crawford: 22 (1902) T32) Birdie Cree: 22 (1911)T32) Jake Daubert: 22 (1922) T32) Elmer Flick: 22 (1906) T32) Willie Keeler: 22 (1894)T32) Tommy Leach: 22 (1902) T32) Bid McPhee: 22 (1890) T32) Mike Mitchell: 22 (1911) T32) Hy Myers: 22 (1920)T32) Kip Selbach: 22 (1895) T32) Tris Speaker: 22 (1913)T32) Snuffy Stirnweiss: 22 (1945) T32) Joe Visner: 22 (1890)T32) Honus Wagner: 22 (1900) T32) Paul Waner: 22 (1926) =orange]Jose Reyes, Projected to End of 2006: 21.89...T52) Frank Baker: 21 (1912) T52) Tom Brown: 21 (1891)T52) Earle Combs: 21 (1928) T52) Sam Crawford: 21 (1912) T52) Ed Delahanty: 21 (1892) T52) Joe Jackson: 21 (1916)T52) Lance Johnson: 21 (1996) T52) Bill Keister: 21 (1901)T52) Tom McCreery: 21 (1896) T52) Dave Orr: 21 (1885)T52) Edd Roush: 21 (1924) T52) Vic Saier: 21 (1913)T52) Frank Schulte: 21 (1911) T52) Cy Seymour: 21 (1905) T52) Billy Shindle: 21 (1890)T52) Sam Thompson: 21 (1895) T52) Mike Tiernan: 21 (1890) T52) Mike Tiernan: 21 (1895)T52) George Van Haltren: 21 (1896) T52) Bobby Wallace: 21 (1897) T52) Jimmy Williams: 21 (1901) T52) Jimmy Williams: 21 (1902) T52) Willie Wilson: 21 (1985) ... Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 The Daily News today printed a list of the all-time top 28 career strikeout leaders. Of the 28, eight have played for the Mets: Ryan (1), Seaver (6), Martinez (14), Lolich (17), Tanana (19), Cone (21), Spahn (23), and Koosman (26).Seven of the 28 are currently active: Clemens, Randy Johnson, Maddux, Martinez, Schilling, Smoltz, and Mussina.I know the eras are very different, but it was kind of nice to see that Jerry Koosman (2,556) had more strikeouts than Christy Mathewson (2,502).

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Worth noting that Beltran has 94 runs batting in. Only 27 players in Mets history have finished with higher totals. Beltran, of course, has another 58 games left in his season, and projects to a season total of 146, which would smash the record of 124 that Mike Piazza set in 1999.Is this the best offensive season in Mets history?

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 David Wright's almost everything Edgardo was and more.Beltran's the superstar import providing Piazza's power plus playing every day.Delgado is a very different animal from Olerud, but producing just as effectively. The main difference is that back then --- as much power as we had --- our on-base percentage was the greater weapon, with Henderson, Cedeo, Alfonzo, and Olerud all at .385+. Piazza, too, was at .361 and Ventura at .379.Now our greater weapon is probably the slugging profieciency (with Brian Bannister leading the way with a .700 slugging percentage). My fear is that power is more prone to a team-wide slump than on-base percentage.I can't back that up, though.OE: There's also no Ordonez hole in the lineup in 2006.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 With two more homers, Jose Reyes breaks the Mets' record of homers by a shortstop, which would be lamentable only because it's a crown remakably co-held by two guys (Elster and Howard Johnson) setting the mark in the same season (1989).

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 This should have been noted at his last win, but Steve Trachsel is now one of the Mets top ten winningest pitchers.
