Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 You wake up one morning this winter and discover that Mike Piazza has signed a contract for an absurd amount of money ... with the Yankees!!!There's the obligatory press conference where Piazza slips on the pinstriped # 31 and then makes "the Speech." You know, the one all new Yankees make about the great organization, the history of Yankee Stadium, the dream come true... What would you think?
Guest KC Guests Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 I could take 1, 2, or 4 - I abstain, courteously.(and I guess 3, I kinda mis-read it)
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 None of those - I would cry. Hard. For days.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 You know, for all the Yankee historiograbbing of the Mets legacy, such that it is, I'm not coming up with any significant free agents switching right from Met pajamas to Yankees, much less any Type A's. Gooden's the closest, and he was out of baseball between the two stints. There's Tony Clark, I guess. Was that payback for swiping Mike Stanton? John Candeleria, but I don't think the Mets had much intention of retaining him.I think with Stanton, Karim Garcia, and Miguel Cairo, not to mention Willie Randolph Yogi Berra, Casey Stengel, and George Weiss, we've swept in and gotten grabby more often than they have. --- with mixed results, to put it generously.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 none of those choices are right, you left out...Give up on baseball forever and begin saying over and over "its only 7 months till football starts again"
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I voted "d", but wish you had a choice like:I'm laughing at transaction #1 of the post-Cashman era. (Boss George goes totally bonkers in his never-ending quest to steal the back pages from the Mets.)Later
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I really wanted to choose "he's dead to me," because he's been dead to me a couple of times already this season. But that said, Al Leiter was my favorite recent-era Met, but I was okay with him becoming a Yankee, so I suppose I'd get over it, as long as he didn't pull that A-Rod Giambi "speech" crap. So I voted "c."I couldn't vote "d", because I think he's going to provide a useful bat for someone next year, and it would kill me to see him go .250-25-75 as a C/DH for the MFYs.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I could have lived with it if he hadn't made "the Speech"
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I took 2, as the closest to Valadius' choice. But you know, I could handle him becoming a Yankee easier than a Brave.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 If he plays for Torre despite Torre apologizing for Fuckface in the wake of the July 8, 2000 beaning and the World Series Game 2 bat shard incident, then he's dead to me.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I don't like this poll. It makes me feel bad.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I agree with Elster. Boo Willets Point! Boo!

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Makes me want to stick a fork in a toaster for some reason.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2005 Author Posted October 7, 2005 I wouldn't mess with me while I'm Lenny Dykstra.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I feel like sending Willets a copy of "The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars".
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2006 Author Posted January 8, 2006 I had a dream that Piazza signed with the Yankees the other night. Eerie.
