Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago The New York Mets host the St. Louis Cardinalia at Citi Field for what is being dubbed "Backyard Baseball Night." This evening is being more specifically described as a "Special Event Ticket Required" affair, which only confuses me further. Is not any Mets home game a special event requiring a so-designated ticket? Austin Warren is scheduled as an opener for, presumably, David Peterson. The Cards counter with celebrity chef Andre Pallante. The good news is the Mets are going to win this game. The bad news is that it is only one game.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago The Mets damn well need to win tonight and presumptively tomorrow It's not a good idea to keep up with the Jones' but it is a good idea to keep up with the Cardinals LGM
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago Oh, they're totally going to win. It's Backyard Baseball Night tonight.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Yes ,last night for Puerto Rico Night you needed a special event ticket to get the Puerto Rico Lindor shirt and enter in a designated entrance whippoorwill 1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago It kind of shits on the whole idea of a giveaway promotion, no? And entering through a special gate? Yikes! What an insult to Johnny Lunchbucket and Molly Housecoat!
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago This isn't new - they've been doing this for years. They have all-play promotions, and then they have special ticket packages with more specific giveaways. I don't necessarily mind or care. My only frustration would be if I already had a ticket and I wanted that special item, would I be allowed to "upgrade" or would I have to buy a second ticket?

So it's free as long as you pay extra for it in advance?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago It sounds a particularly awful practice for ethnic-celebration-themed nights.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago No, it's quite the opposite. You're guaranteeing a special item for folks who actually want it, rather than the first thousand yahoos getting a Puerto Rican flag they don't care about. It's like the Stony Brook and Syracuse hats this summer; rather than giving shitty ones to the first 15,000 fans, you make nicer ones and give them to people who are excited about it.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago The hat is awesome tonight (I mean, if you remember the game) and it's probably cooler because they had to make less of them. And doesn't have a shitty sponsor logo on it, either.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago That's a decent Mets lineup and Francisco Lindor's return is close at hand There may a rain delay or two. Golden Showers are forecast

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted 37 minutes ago Posted 37 minutes ago This team is still slashing .229/.293/.365 through 66 games. I never would've guessed.
