Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Bringing in the infield against Ewing with bases loaded in the first just turned a perfect DP-grounder into a two-run single. And now it's in against Vientos?
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 29 Posted May 29 The Mets score 2 first inning runs. First and third with only one out. I am not accustomed to such occurences.

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Batty drives in 2 more runs after some poor defense by the Marlins.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Four runs , a huge output for this team , let's go Mets
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Getting 33 pitches out of Meyer is almost as gratifying as the four-run lead. Also, Mendoza's stacking of the lineup with lefties paid off nicely in that inning.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 29 Posted May 29 4 runs in an inning? Is that allowed? The Hot Corner 1
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Benge wins that ABS challenge to get a walk. I still don't think it was a wise challenge.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Just in case you hadn't noticed, Caissie's at the bat
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Here's to 38-pitch innings. They happen, but they've never been more of an anathema than they are in this age of pitch-counting.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Vientos proves me wrong. I salute him!

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Going to be a lot of bullpen innings tonight. Meyers with a 33 pitch inning (66 through 3) and now Peralta with a 38 pitch inning (65 through 3).
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 30 Posted May 30 22 minutes ago, Frayed Knot said: Only if batters get credit for distance over frequency. Vientos lives by the philosophy, swing hard because you might hit it. That is his 7th HR with 38 Ks this season. For his career that is HR 61 with 371 Ks. Pair that with a .261 OBP this season and .290 OBP for his career and I don't think Vientos is the answer now or in the future.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 30 Posted May 30 The Marlins defense is a gift that just keeps giving. It is almost like watching a Little League game.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Bad fielding AND bad defensive decision making by the Marlins tonight.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 30 Posted May 30 A.J. getting a game situation his second time out after 13 months off.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 30 Posted May 30 SAVE by A.J.! Now they just need four more saves in a row.
