It's a very good thing to give Tong the opportunity to establish himself as a fixture in the rotation

Andrew Abbott elementary goes for the shreds

2024: 22-33, came within eighteen innings of the World Series
2026: 22-33, ???

This is it. The low point. IT IS ALL GOOD THINGS FROM HERE.

(Except for the whole "that team was way better than this team" problem.)

That's the problem I see.

It's a weird year.  The Cubs were money in the bank a few weeks ago and have now lost 10 in a row and 14 of 16.

If they can go from the penthouse to the outhouse that fast, I believe the Mets can pull off a burning tear of one win in a row.

I am going to give tonight's game a try to see how Tong looks.  I am not convinced he is the real deal (at least at present).  First he needs better command so he isn't walking so many batters and pitching behind in the count.  I am concerned that he basically a 2 pitch pitcher in that 86% of his pitchers are either 4-seam fastball (62%) or change (25%).  He has a that he throws almost exclusively to right handed batters.  He has a cutter for a 4th option but it accounts for only 3-4% of his pitches.  So for left handed hitters, he is basically 4-seamer up or change up down.

It will be interesting to see how he fairs.  The Mets really need him to be good (very good).

They just look so overmatched in this series.

Not only did they get outhit by 3X last night, every hit was an absolute rocket except for De La Cruz's cue shot off Manaea. I don't know if came thru on TV but that was the thing last night--the crack of the bat when Cincinnati was up there. We just aren't the kind of team that can do that by now. Last night the offensive highlight was Baty reaching section 513 with a foul ball. That's hard to do.
