A holiday 4:10 start will feature Nolan McLean vs Nick Lodolo in the battle of the big, round-headed mascots.

Lodolo didn't make his first start of the season until 5/8 and the three he's made so far haven't been pretty [7.20 ERA / 1.53 WHIP w/14 hits and 9 BBs in 15 innings]. But since when has such stuff mattered to Met bats? They'll go down weakly to anyone. Last July Lodolo held them to 2 runs / 4 hits thru 7 in an 8-4 Reds win.

Reds got rained out today in StL so are probably already in New York while the Mets won't get home until washing the stink off this game/series and flying 1,000 miles only to face a quick turn-around.

The Reds didn't leave Cincinnati until late afternoon and landed at Kennedy 10 minutes ago (6:43 PM).  Mets are scheduled to get in to LaGuardia at 9:47 PM.

Yeah, holiday Monday day games should be the tail end of a wraparound series — not something two teams just flew in for, but alas.

Still, it's a 4:10 start so freshness will probably not be the Mets biggest problem.

I'm amazed that this knowledge is both knowable and findable.

Only Taylor is keep this from becoming an all Baby Mets outfield

If Mendoza makes the lineups he has show he will use just about anyone not named Soto anywhere.

Nick Lodolo is almost perpetually coming back from an injury and I believe this would be his fourth game back. He has not been good

LGM!

Well, now he gets to face the Mets line up, without Soto, which seems to help almost any opposing pitcher's numbers.

How about the overwhelming and unanticipated cost of lowballing Antoan Richardson?

In 2025, they stole 147 bases in 165 attempts, for an 89.1% success rate.

In 2026, they've stolen 29 bases in 43 attempts, for a 67.4% success rate.

Ill-advised glove flip from Bichette, and a less-than-impressive stretch from Vientos at the other end, and a meaningful double-play opportunity falls through.

Reds have two runs despite eight hitters putting just two balls in play [bloop 1B, GO] ... and now a second GO to end the inning.

So nine batters: 1 single, 2 GOs, 4 K's, 1 BB, 1 HBP + a passed ball

This team does nothing well.

Beating dead horse here. Genius said we need to improve our defense. So he decimated our offense, made our defense worst and didn't adequately improve our pitching. But other than that........good job, David.

That damned plagiarist Gary Cohen just quoted my numbers.

Morabito needs to get back to the New York Penn League.

Can't blame him. Shouldn't be here to begin with. Actually feel bad for some of these guys. Our owner followed by the unGenius  he hired should apologize to the fans. Don't criticize the fans again Steve for not showing up again. Unless you think coming to watch Soto is all we should ask for.

Salute to Matthew Pride, but maybe Veteran of the Day should take a day off on Memorial Day, and leave the focus on the folks who didn't come home.

As a veteran of the Vietnam era I totally agree. Most of us never came close to making the ultimate sacrifice.
