Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 Dove head-first into 1st base and jammed it into the bag. Nornally not a good move, of course, but in this case it was both him and the 1B-man diving simultaneously so it wound up being (after a replay review) the only way he'd have been safe. It loaded the bases w/one out in the 7th. Unfortunately it was also the last hit they got for the night.

metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I was gonna say, damn, the poor kid just can’t catch a break, but that’s unfortunately not the case.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I'm sure the Winnepesaukee Flying Corn Shuckers or whoever have cut a 36 year old middle infielder recently. Go get him, Stearns! MFS62 1

Well he would have had the next six weeks or so of more or less everyday play, so that's out the window now. He wasn't going to 'win' the SS job no matter what he did, of course, but it would have been his steadiest playing time in the big leagues to date so it was important to him. Now I guess this means Bichette to SS, Baty is now back to being the more or less everyday 3B, while Vientos mans 1B most days. So now those two have a shot to prove they deserve more.
