How did this happen?

Dove head-first into 1st base and jammed it into the bag.

Nornally not a good move, of course, but in this case it was both him and the 1B-man diving simultaneously so it wound up being (after a replay review) the only way he'd have been safe. It loaded the bases w/one out in the 7th. Unfortunately it was also the last hit they got for the night.

He got one - ibanez, ( or pretty close) a day early. Stearns can predict future injuries. He’s that good. 😳
