Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Hard to imagine it wont come to this this summer. Bichette could get a nice return. Soto to the Dodgers or back to SD. Polanco, Williams, Robert, Kimbrel, Peterson, Holmes,Senga. MAKE IT HAPPEN STEARNS!!!!!!1
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The opt outs in some of these contracts though? Bichette especially, would they really get something good back ? I would trade Lindor while we are at it
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Do a "Bill Veeck" - put the entire team on waivers and see which players get claimed/ are wanted by other clubs. Then, try to make a deal. Later whippoorwill 1
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Realistically: 1. Bichette I would think might be hard to move considering it’s an opt out. Like what team would want to be on the hook for $42 annually? Plus you have to cover his opt out bonus. 2. Polanco. Sure. But it’s a 2 year deal, so you’re throwing in money. I would guess not much of a return. 3. Peralta can get you a haul. 4. Minter/Raley. Maybe a low level prospect. 5. Holmes. Can get you something good if he keeps it up. 6. Luis Robert. Depends on how he’s doing. Maybe we can get Luisangel back. 7. Senga, Peterson. Not worth much I’d imagine.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago You kinda have to keep Soto, Lindor, and McLean. Soto is still one of the absolute best hitters of this generation. Lindor is still the face of the team, and he's a 10/5 guy anyway. (And I have a soft spot for Alvarez, so I'd be sad if they traded him.) But yes, everyone else can go.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago Believe me they're not going to keep riding this horse if its still playing .300 ball in June. It will be broken the hell up. whippoorwill 1

It will be broken the hell up. I agree. But to seawolf's point, I think Lindor, Soto, and McLean are all very unlikely to go. But yeah, Holmes, Bichette, Peralta, Robert, Semien would all be available. As would Senga and Peterson and Williams if anyone wants them. Younger guys like Baty, Vientos, Alvarez, and Benge aren't really "fire sale" types, but who knows? One or more of them might be used to sweeten a deal that takes on a less desirable player, like Semien perhaps.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Baty and Vientos can be had for, not much Whatever Stearns does will be matched to his own desire to keep his job
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The Mets paid a potentially steep price for Peralta. I expect that if they trade him they'll want more than a mid-level AA prospect.
Radar Verified Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Trade Stearns . Maybe a team out there would take him if we add enough others with him😂
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted 53 minutes ago Posted 53 minutes ago Guys. It's April. Let's not think in extremes yet. I'd probably ditch Mendoza though. And Stearns. Last year's ridiculous roster shuffling should've been a good clue that he's not as good as his billing. MFS62 1
